I Hope I Can Get This Rabanne x H&M Chainmail Skirt Before It Sells Out
The latest of their designer collaborations debuts November 9th.

Years ago, I let a heavily discounted iconic chainmail skirt from then-named Paco Rabanne go—deeming it too frivolous for my current lifestyle—and it still haunts me. My wallet-conscious prayers have finally been answered in the form of H&M’s latest designer collab with none other than Rabanne, helmed by creative director Julien Dossena since 2013. Dossena drew on the ‘60s and ‘70s ethos of the house’s eponymous founder to create a collection apt for the discotheque. The capsule does not forgo the house’s legacy features; high octane, futuristic shimmer proliferates via metallic mesh and mirrored paillettes.
“I approached this collection with a desire to create an inclusive, instinctive vision of fun, drawing out the playful side of Rabanne with the chainmail and sequin pieces and offsetting them with 1970s tailoring and leisurewear,” says Dossena. “Paco Rabanne was a genius when it came to radical design and innovative materials; I’m excited to take that philosophy further with a collection that makes our icons more accessible and also pushes the boundaries of sustainability.” The collection includes womenswear, menswear, shoes, accessories, and even a few homeware pieces and will launch in select stores and on hm.com on November 9th. It comes in a line of H&M’s designer collaborations, including Versace, Comme des Garçons, Balmain, Maison Margiela, Stella McCartney, and most recently Mugler, each making high fashion a bit more accessible. Personally, I have my eye on the silver paillette dress, the red-striped navy trousers, the gold-embellished military jacket, and the metallic cowboy boots—fingers crossed I can snag them before they sell out.
