What Do All Stylish New Yorkers Have in Common?
Answer: a reverence for a really great coat.

What is New York style? The concept goes beyond simply dressing in head-to-toe black, but the je-ne-sais-quoi of it all is rather intangible. That said, there’s a certain throughline among New York’s most stylish; a shared set of sartorial values, if you will. It’s reverence for simplicity, an admiration for timeless, iconic silhouettes. Taking cues from European tailoring of the ‘80s and ‘90s, the chicest New Yorkers (albeit, stereotypically) invest in things like suit separates, mix-and-match sportswear, and, of course, really great coats. To pay homage to the fashion capital’s dwellers of yore, we’ve created a little moodboard of the prior decades’ most iconic imagery to inspire the way you dress today.
