The Best Beauty Moments From the 2022 Oscars Red Carpet
These looks did not disappoint.

After two years of virtual ceremonies, the Oscars returned to its home at the Dolby Theatre for a night of Hollywood glamour, and the stars did not disappoint when it came to their hair and makeup. Would celebrities lean into the boisterous mood of the evening, or would a “no makeup makeup” look dominate? Well, it was a little bit of both. Think striking red lips, fresh skin, and hairstyles inspired by decades past. Below, see all of the best beauty looks from the 2022 Oscars.

Nai’vasha, Tresemmé hairstylist and entrepreneur, drew on her childhood memories from the ‘80s to create this stunning pony. “When I was the age of Demi as she portrays Serena in the film, mothers would give you a ponytail and add a bow or embellished ponytail holder at the base and at the end,” says Nai’vasha. To top off the look, the stylist embellished the look by sewing crystals from Demi’s dress onto the ends of the fishtail braid.

Best Actress winner Jessica Chastain glowed on the red carpet as well as on stage. Her makeup artist Kristofer Buckle prepped her skin with La Mer products, like The Hydrating Infused Emulsion, before layering on Crème de la Mer to lock in moisture and leave behind a subtle glow. For her makeup look, Buckle tapped on Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Away Concealer and Pillow Talk Multi Glow in Romance Light (launching on March 31) to further illuminate Chastain’s skin.

Jada Pinkett Smith’s eye makeup took a cue from her extravagant Gaultier gown. The touch of green on her lower lash line, coupled with fluttery lashes, was a subtle yet striking choice.

Makeup artist Molly Greenwald opted for red lips and natural skin to tie together Tracee Ellis Ross’s classic Hollywood look. “We buffed out a warm golden complexion with the Byredo Colour Stick in La Scene on the lids, cheeks, and contours of the face to build out natural, radiant structure,” says Greenwald. For a flush of color, Greenwald blended Byredo Colour Stick in Sick Pink on Ross’s cheeks before finishing things off with Byredo’s Lipstick in Red Armchair.
Zoë Kravitz’s Audrey Hepburn–Inspired Look

Paying homage to Audrey Hepburn in a pale pink YSL gown, Zoë Kravitz had the hair to match. Nikki Nelms, Kravitz’s go-to hairstylist, created a sleek look, complete with swooped mini-bangs, to complete the transformation.
Billie Eilish’s Flipped Ends

Billie Eilish’s hair also felt like a nod to the past. The musician's mod-inspired flipped ends added texture and depth to her hair. Makeup artist Rob Rumsey used Charlotte Tilbury products, including Beautiful Skin Foundation and the Nudegasm Face Palette to create a fresh look for the Oscar winner.
