On this episode of In the Kitchen, we get up bright and early with New Orleans food blogger Natalie Tate. As the founder of Your Inner Fat Girl—a food blog that embraces the f word—Tate knows a thing or two about the amazing bars, great local hole-in-the-wall gems, and exquisite dining down in the Big Easy. Knowing her expertise in flavors and taste, hence the nickname Natalie Taste, we couldn’t wait to find out her easy, yet very delicious French toast recipe. More syrup, anyone?

French Toast

Ingredients:

Your favorite loaf of bread
1 tsp ground cinnamon
⅓ cup of milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
1 tsp brown sugar
a pinch of ground nutmeg
a pinch of ginger
1 tbsp butter
powdered sugar
syrup

Directions:

1. Whisk the egg, vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg, ginger, and milk in a medium bowl, and place mixture on a flat surface.

2. Dip a slice of bread into the mixture, turning it to coat both sides evenly.

3. Cook the bread slices on a lightly greased nonstick griddle or skillet on medium heat until browned on both sides.

4. Serve with fresh fruit, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and top with syrup!
