Daisy-Embroidered Clogs, Retro Swimwear, & Everything Else We’ve Been Eyeing This May

This month, we're focusing on summer essentials—swimwear, canvas totes, and more.

Fashion
may 2021 fashion launches

After months of pesky transitional weather, warmth is *finally* here. This, of course, entails a seasonal wardrobe flip. As we store our chunky boots and bulky sweaters in favor of strappy sandals and breezy dresses, it's inevitable to long for a slight sartorial refresh. Sometimes a new piece or two can elevate those we plan on recycling from the previous year for seemingly new ensembles (though most are not). In light of this notion, designers are gearing up for a summer of fun (and sun) with launches that range from cow-print slides to elevated eyewear to retro-inspired swimwear. Below, we've rounded up every new item from the past month we can't wait to get our hands on. Wallets, be warned!

Matilda Daisies Embroidered Clog

It's no secret we love a good clog, so we were thrilled to hear cult-favorite loungewear brand Sleeper was releasing their own rendition. Wear them with all your breezy summer dresses for a quirky finishing touch.

Sportclean Venus Dress

Cult-favorite swimwear designer Marysia is carrying her iconic sleek scallops over into activewear with her new Sportclean line. We're loving the new, preppy styles and plan to wear them even when we're not working out.

The Ferry Short

This summer calls for sophisticated updates to the loungewear we've been living in all year. Enter: Recreational Habit's Ferry shorts. We highly recommend indulging in the matching shirt, as well.

Dakota Platform

Lisa Says Gah's first shoe design in more than a year, the Dakota is the nostalgic '90s slide we didn't know we needed. This loud shoe will jazz up even a simple t-shirt and denim short combo.

Summer Dress

We definitely rely on Jenni Kayne for elevated essentials year-round, but her style philosophy seems especially relevant during the summer months. There are few things better than a one-and-done dress, and we plan on living in this easy style the entire season.

Wired RX

We've always relied on Quay for affordable versions of our favorite trendy sunglasses, so we were thrilled to hear they were launching optical, as well. We plan on indulging in a pair of these simple clear frames ASAP.

Leo Signet Ring

Camille Freestone

For their 10th anniversary, Wolf Circus will be offering custom engraving on their Leo necklace and rings to celebrate. They are known for their everyday staples, so this extra element of personalization is the perfect addition.

The Balconette

CUUP, the brand we all rely on for comfortable underwear you can actually feel good in, has *finally* launched swim. Their expertise in fit carries over into the perfect feminine silhouettes.

Canvas Tote

As we begin to venture into the world more and more, we are going to need a bag to carry all our—for lack of a better word—stuff. This month, Cuyana debuted a canvas version of their favorite tote for guaranteed ease as you run your summer errands.

Always Fit One-Piece

Good American's new Always Fit swimwear stretches up or down a size while keeping its shape, so you buy once and it fits always. This means you won't have to get rid of your pieces in case your body fluctuates slightly in size.

Collective Natural Crossbody

Cesta baskets are handwoven by a female artisan in Rwanda, Africa, using locally sourced, organic vegetable-dyed sisal. And not only are they ethically made, classic silhouettes like these have us nearly drooling on our laptops.

90s Comfy Jean

As we attempt to ease ourselves back into wearing denim on a regular basis, oversize styles like this one from Re/Done's new summer collection make the task at hand seem much less daunting.

Small 4G Bag in Box Leather

If there is one purchase we guarantee you won't regret, it's a timeless black purse—an essential, regardless of your personal style. And the classic silhouette of Givenchy's new 4G style makes us think it will be an instant classic.

Whitehall Honey Tortoise

After donning some form of eyewear since the age of eight, Dan Levy channeled his personal relationship with optical frames into his own collection. The result is a stylish, modern approach to everyday glasses and their sunny counterpart.

The Flower Tote

If you've ever awkwardly stuffed a bouquet into a grocery bag already spilling over with groceries, you'll understand why Jenni Lee constructed a special flower tote. With any purchase of this tote or the marled sock, proceeds will be donated to the Asian American Arts Alliance (AAAA / A4), a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring greater representation, equity, and opportunities for Asian-American artists and cultural organizations through resource sharing, promotion, and community building.

A favorite brand of ours, Brother Vellies, just released their new Trieste style sandal, and we plan on living in it all summer. The simple strappy silhouette guarantees it will pair with anything from jeans to a flirty silk skirt.
