On one of the first days that truly felt like fall in New York, a photo studio that is more than just a photo studio celebrated its opening in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Lumin Studio's goal is to be a space where art, fashion, and culture collide, where creativity is limitless and not restricted to one category or genre. The sleek industrial interior and the intentional floor plan (featuring an office, beauty station, working area, and more) designed by Eteliers Studio make it the perfect space for editorial shoots, but also the perfect space for an elaborate dinner or exhibition. This was the goal of co-founders Yanran Xiong and Stefy Lin—to create a space that is way more than just one thing.

At the launch party, light fixtures felt like art pieces and hors d'oeuvres felt like decor. Everything felt intentional, down to the island bar and large communal table basked in a beam of light topped with floral arrangements and the complimentary Lumin lighters gifted upon entrance. "Texture-driven culinary creations and ethereal florals engage taste, sight, and touch, reflecting Lumin's ethos: imaginative, elevated, and unapologetically boundary-breaking," the wall read.

Models, photographers, writers, and artists mingled and danced around the DJ booth, sipping Paloma-inspired cocktails and wine. Something about the space and the night encouraged conversations with strangers because, just from being there, it felt like we were aligned in some way or another, like creative paths led all of us there.

It was everything you'd imagine a Brooklyn night to be and what, in my opinion, it should be: people bravely committed to creative paths celebrating another creative's newest endeavor. Because, waking everyday and choosing to be a creative comes with inherent risks, but the evening reminded me of why we, or at least why I, do it. In other words, Lumin Studio's launch party culminated in a quintessential Brooklyn night.
