Borrowing from the boys is a concept we're very familiar with—whether it be the oversized button-down shirt, low-slung trousers, or a pair of driving loafers. But, for Spring/Summer 2027, designers have turned the narrative on its head; we're no longer borrowing from them, but rather, we're snatching up the best menswear details and transforming them just for us. In particular, designers including Daniella Kallmeyer, Connor Ives, and Trish Wescoat Pound are pushing cummerbunds away from their menswear, black-tie roots and gifting them to the girls in an informal, eye-catching way. In their modern form, they're not designed to snatch to the waist. Rather, they’re an elevated way to accessorize without having to tie a scarf or shirt around your waist.
While some of the Spring/Summer 2027 cummerbunds felt more traditional—silk numbers that could just as easily pair with a tuxedo—some had special adornments just for us. They're designed to make an outfit, styled with colorful dresses, pencil skirts and loose trousers for extra umph.
