It's The Season Of The Bitchy Little Coat
We round up our favorite picks of cropped jackets and coats to welcome Fall.

The colder months have officially arrived and thusly, we are all strategizing how many coats are reasonable to purchase to get us through the winter physically, and spiritually. For many, Fall is a fashion-lover’s dream, but only if you have the perfect selection of coats to make you feel excited about your next outfit.
This season on the Spring/Summer 2026 runways, there were plenty of great coat options for Fall, especially of the cropped variety. The term “bitchy little coat” has been thrown around on the internet, and we feel connected to the sentiment here at Coveteur. This season, it’s seemingly all about the cropped coat. Whether it’s double-breasted wool versions, trenches, faux fur, or leather, we’re leaving the ankle-dusters behind (at least, until we need them) and switching them out for jacket options that end at the waist or hips.

Over in Paris, Alaïa’s Pieter Mullier offered a number of cocoon-like coats with high necks that stopped just below the hips, alongside Anthony Vacarello, whose first half of Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection was a series of oversized leather bombers in various shapes. At Isabel Marant, it was all about the utility jacket in calico and drill cotton, while at Alexander McQueen and Ann Demeulemeester, military jackets because the bitchy outerwear of choice.
Back in New York, Tibi sent perfect water resistant high-necked bomber jackets down the runway, while at Khaite, creative director Catherine Holstein was focussed on leather bombers with shearling-lined collars and shiny leather blazers with cape-like arm holes.

The past season felt, predominantly, not only focussed on having a fabulous, bitchy little coat to elevate a simple look (or plainly, a statement jacket), but also a sentiment of cocooning shapes for protective measures. Shoulders were predominantly rounded, necks high, fabric was leather or drill cotton or gabardine giving everything a utilitarian feel, signalling that this season, we want to be shrouded in things that are comfortable, purposeful, and, above all, quite beautiful.
Ahead, we round up our favorite picks of cropped jackets and coats to welcome Fall.
