What We Consumed This Week: From Olivia Rodrigo’s "Guts" to Ayurvedic Massage

After the sound and fury of NYFW, we’re finding ourselves drawn to comforting, regressive classics on repeat.

What We Consumed This Week: From Olivia Rodrigo’s "Guts" to Ayurvedic Massage

Welcome to Coveteur’s Consumer Diaries! As our co-dependent relationship with the algorithm deepens with time, the bottomless scroll has turned us all into 24/7 consumers. As we consume varying degrees of news, targeted ads, trailers, shopping, and user-generated content, all accordioned together in an endless feed—our consumer habits have reached a fever pitch. Each week, we are asking Coveteur staff members about what they consumed this past week, and connecting the dots on our consumer behavior with a trendspotting Venn diagram.

After the sound and fury of fashion week (New York's, at least), we’re all taking time to convalesce. We’re looking inward, restoring our health, and edging towards the equilibrium that Libra season expects from us. Hell, even Jen Shah and Elizabeth Holmes are friends in prison doing ab workouts and “bonding over a journey of positive change.” Now that Elon Musk suggested X (the artist formerly known as Twitter) may go behind a paywall, the predicted mass exodus may finally free us from the prison of the endless scroll. As we approach the Autumnal equinox, get fresh air, touch grass, and regress with your favorite movies, TV shows, and podcasts. With recuperation and balance on the mind, find out what the Coveteur staff is consuming to unwind this week:

1. Calm App

“I've always enjoyed guided meditation, and Calm has so many options. While I'm still at the beginning of my meditation journey, I notice that I feel less anxious on the days I take five to 10 minutes in the morning to center myself.” — Samantha Wu (Marketing Coordinator)

2. Guts by Olivia Rodrigo

“As a pop-music obsessee, I've been listening to Olivia Rodrigo's new album on repeat. It's teeny-bopper energy in the best way. I’m loving the songs 'Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl' & 'Get Him Back!'.” — Samantha Wu (Marketing Coordinator)

3.Nike Gamma Force

“After hours of doom scrolling through white sneakers, I debated just getting another pair of Air Force 1’s to replace my old beat-up pair (we had a good run—college frats houses, multiple countries, concerts; you name it, they’ve seen it). Luckily, I didn’t press add to cart and found these Gammas instead. I love the combination of reds, blues, and greens—it’s the perfect color for my monotoned wardrobe!” — Katie Mok (Content Management Coordinator)

4. White Lotus Ayurveda

“In full transparency, I thought I was going in for a much-needed massage and ended up experiencing an elaborate ayurvedic ‘massage,’ which was more so a physical evaluation and energy-shifting exercise than an actual massage. It started with a pulse check—which was very spot on calling out my not-so-great eating habits and phone addiction— then warm oil was poured on my third eye. The session ended with a mini sound bath. It was a different experience than what I was expecting, but potentially more valuable than a typical 60-minute massage.” — Lauren Malanga (Campaign Manager)

5. Good Children Podcast

“The Wednesday morning release of ‘Good Children’ is the highlight of my week. Hosts Joe Hegyes and Andrew Muscarella were born to pod, and you will immediately want to be best friends with the pair as they reminisce on their 20+ years of friendship with hilarious references to the culture of the 2000's and 2010's. A must-listen for anybody who grew up on Hannah Montana and Webkinz.” — Caroline Dunn (Manager of Sales & Brand Partnerships)

6. ReVive Peau Magnifique Serum and Eye Concentrate

“I’ve tried basically every eye treatment under the sun, and my current favorite is the Revive Peau Magnifique Eye Concentrate. After testing it out, I noticed fewer fine lines and wrinkles in that area of the face. Plus, it comes with a silver roller applicator that instantly elevates the application experience. ” — Patricia Foster (Executive Beauty Director)

7. Addiction Tokyo

“Japanese brand Addiction Tokyo recently launched in the US, just in time for a fall makeup refresh. Their weightless, buildable, and long-lasting makeup comes in a myriad of shades and finishes, allowing you to explore your creativity. The entire collection has brought some fun back into my makeup routine.” — Patricia Foster (Executive Beauty Director)

8. Friday Night Lights Rewatch

“I just started watching Friday Night Lights for the first time. I grew up in a small town in Texas, so I had to put some years between myself and those memories before I was ready to tackle the nostalgia. I was on the drill team (not the gun-wielders—fancy word for the high school version of Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders) and we performed at every football game (which means that I uncharacteristically attended every football game along with the rest of the town). The show is giving me an oddly specific sort of PTSD, but somehow I'm still enjoying it.” — Camille Freestone (Senior Style Editor)

9. LEUCHTTURM1917 A5 Journal

“Apparently, I'm about 10 years late to the Bullet Journal party. Where was I when this system came out? For years, I've organized myself digitally with apps, but I've found that nothing beats good ol' pen-and-paper with a tried-and-true system for compiling your notes, events, to-dos, projects, and more. I bought two: one for work and one for personal (my personal holds my daily gratitudes).” — Talun Zeitoun (Head of Brand, Editorial & Creative)

10. Freaks & Geeks Rewatch

“I, like many people right now, am in a bit of a regressive phase with my media. I watched this show for the first time when I was in high school and opt for a re-watch about every other year. Released in 1999 but set in the 1980s, it’s nostalgic in more ways than one–as I get older I find something new to relate to in each viewing. Produced by Judd Apatow and Paul Feig, this was the series that really launched the comedy careers of Seth Rogan, James Franco, Jason Segel, Martin Starr, Busy Phillips, and a lot of other legends we would see bloom after this one-season series. (You’ll even see guest appearances from Rashida Jones, Lizzy Caplan, and even Ben Stiller.) The acting and writing are phenomenal and it’s a sentimental treasure through and through. If you were a highschooler that felt too freaky for the nerds but too nerdy for the freaks, this series will warm your heart.” — Andie Eisen (Culture Editor)
