All-White Outfits to Wear All Summer Long

If sundresses aren't for you, these outfits are another way to stay cool.

All-white outfits are excellent for the summer because they keep you cool, but they're also a fun styling challenge. Dressing in one color is not only an invitation to play with other elements like texture, material, and proportion, but also an opportunity to let any fun accessories or shoes take center stage. While a white sundress is a warm-weather classic, here we focus on separates and how to style elements you may already have in your closet for both casual and formal summertime events.

If you're stumped on how to style cargo pants, here’s a full-proof formula with items you probably already have in your wardrobe. I love this in all-white, but the button-down would also be nice in blue. Pair with a sandal, or even a flip-flop (they’re back and better than ever), for an ultra-comfortable, laid-back Sunday-in-the-park vibe.

If you love Simone Rocha, Rodarte, or Isabel Marant, this look is for you. Black cowboy boots—while perhaps not the most practical summer shoe choice—have been my June go-to, and I love using them to balance out a more feminine outfit. For what I think of as a haunted bohemian vibe, pair white shorts and a blouse—preferably with lace or eyelet detailing—with black leather cowboy boots and some vintage silver jewelry. She may be road-tripping out west, but she is bringing a copy of Jane Eyre.

I've been wearing black trousers with a black vest lately, but now that it’s warming up, this white version is very tempting. The word "chic" may be overused, but a white or cream vest-and-trouser pairing holds true to the definition. It gives Diane Keaton meets Charlotte Gainsbourg. You can pair this outfit with a heel or loafer for a more formal look or sneakers for something a little more casual and unexpected.
