In The Close-Up, Coveteur gets up close and personal with the people shaping the creative industries as we know it, from artists to photographers.

Although ADÉLA might be unsure of what color her aura is, her edgy pink hair paired with her style that she describes as silhouette-heavy, high heels that stay on always, upbeat discography, and newly released hyper-stylized "Red Bottoms" music video have me confidently believing that it's a moody crimson: rich with dramatic undertones, but simultaneously bright. The Gen Z Slovak singer who got her start on talent competition show Dream Academy, gained a bit of an underdog narrative through that, and has since opened for Demi Lovato on tour, co-wrote and co-produced her song “MachineGirl” with Grimes, and had Christina Aguilera make a cameo in her “SexOnTheBeat” music video, has her generation in a chokehold. I would easily attribute this to her authenticity, nostalgic electro-pop, personal and relatable songwriting, and deep appreciation for the greats who came before her—you’d be remiss to discuss the music industry with ADELA without a Beyoncé shout out at some point or another.

In honor of of ADÉLA's recently released "Red Bottoms" music video and the seductive EBY POP that she wore in it, her soon-to-come debut album, and her upcoming performance at Lollapalooza, we caught up with the continuously rising star about her craft, her personal style, Slovak food, and how much of a true Sagittarius she really feels like.

What’s your star sign and do you relate?

"I'm a Sagittarius and I relate to it very much. I'm super blunt, which is I think the thing about Sagittarius trait. We're very independent, which I am, as I've moved around a lot in my life."

Do you know anything else about your chart?

"I'm a Capricorn moon and Pisces moon. And the rest of it? I have Co-Star that. I think my Capricorn moon gives me my OCD. Because isn't your moon the way you present yourself to people?"

Your moon is your emotional self, so it's who you are in private.

"That's right, that's right. I guess I'm not as flamboyant as some Sagittarius' are. When I tell people I'm a Sagittarius, everybody's like 'what are your other ones?'I say I'm a Capricorn moon and they're like 'oh, that's why,' because I tend to lock-in sometimes. I relate to both. And Pisces is emotional, which makes sense."

What three words best describe how you're feeling right now?

"Excited. For. Album."

What color is your aura?

"I don't know. I think I'm supposed to be told that. You know what I mean? I think somebody else has to say. But then sometimes people are really mean and they're like 'it's gray.'"

Yours is definitely not gray!

"It's never happened to me, but I've seen some people be mean to other celebrities on the internet. They also just clearly don't like them. They're like 'She's the worst. She's gray.'"

How would you describe your personal style?

"Heels and skin. I always need a silhouette. It kind of all depends on the shape to me, but I always wear heels. That's a staple thing. I have things that I enjoy andsilhouettes that I enjoy that I just lean on and mostly do the same thing every day."

Is there a fashion trend that you secretly hate?

"I mean, I don't love everybody just looking the same, but I guess that's the nature of fashion trends in general. But I feel like ever since being on social media, everything just comes and goes really, really quickly and it's kind of hard to develop your own style because you're consuming the same thing that everybody else consumes. I don't know how we would even fix this issue, but I just love to see somebody be themselves no matter what. Even if it's kind of odd, that is what I enjoy."

What's your song of the summer?

"My song of the summer right now is 'What's Wrong With Me' by Olivia Rodrigo and Robert Smith. That song is fucking awesome. That whole album is awesome."

What musical artist inspires you the most?

"I would say Beyoncé for sure. I'm a big Beyhive. I just think she's so smart and she's so hardworking and talented obviously, but the work ethic is unmatched and she's a legend. If you don't respect her and study her, then I don't know what you're doing. It's kind of crazy to me."

How would you describe the genre of music you make?

"I make pop music. I always say that and then people like, 'What kind of pop?' And I'm like, 'Well, I only have seven songs out.' So those are electronic pop. With this new album, I kind of was trying to make music that I loved listening to when I was around twelve years old. I was born in 2003, so music from 2014 and 2015. I hope this album kind of sounds like."

What's your favorite memory from the set of your "Red Bottoms" music video?

"We had some fire elements in the music video and so we had to have fire safety people on set. I was just about to step onto the set with the fire on it and I was covered in baby oil—it was supposed to be this sexy, sweaty look. The fire safety people were like, 'Okay, just before you go on, make sure there's no oil or anything.' My makeup artist, Loftjet, goes up to this fire safety person and says, 'No shade, but she's covered in baby oil.' And you can just tell that this fire safety person has never been spoken to like that in his life. He didn't expect this gay disrespect that he got and he was just so shaken. I was living for it. It was just the funniest interaction ever. I laughed so hard."

What do you love about EBY POP, the brand you wore in your "Red Bottoms" music video?

"Honestly, the bras were so easy to work with and style and customize. They're really, really flexible. I wore their bra that's mesh and it was just really easy. You can just twist it if you want to make it a different shape. You can keep it as is if you want a little bit more coverage. It's sexy because it's see-through. So honestly, it was just really customizable and really easy for daily wear."

Why did EBY POP feel like the right fit for this particular music video?

"I think because it was sexy. The song itself is sensual and sexier and kind of softer than my past songs, so I knew that I wanted to have a look where we showcased more intimate wear. When they reached out, it just felt really perfect."

What beauty aesthetics are you most drawn to?

"I love a really thick winged liner, kind of a matte complexion, and kind of no lip vibes. That's what I've been loving recently and I just highlight my beauty marks and usehighlighter. It's kind of giving, again, 2015-2016. I think I'm just leaning into what I loved doing as a kid. Although the makeup that I used to do at that time was insane. It was really scary, but right now I think it's just the thick liner, and straight and very long brows for some reason."

What's one product that you always have in your bag?

"Perfume. I love Musc Ravageur by Fredric Malle and KILLIAN Paris's Angels Share"

You're classically trained in ballet—what's the most common misconception about ballet or being a dancer?

"I think the biggest misconception is that the girls are mean to each other. I've never had that experience. I mean, there's obviously competition, but I've never had the crazy caddy stories that I think some people expect when you tell them that you're a ballerina. It's actually quite supportive and at the same time competitive, which is an interesting dynamic, but it's healthy or the way that I've experienced it is, at least."

What are the last three things you wrote in your Notes app?

"Most of my notes are all lyrics. But I was also writing down my setlist for Lollapalooza which I'm doing on August 2nd. We're starting to work on that, rehearse, and figure out the setlist."

What's your favorite Slovak dish?

"I don't know if this is real Slovak, but I actually think it is. I love duck, unfortunately. I love duck and I love when it comes with these potato crepes and stewed cabbage. We literally have duck season in Slovakia. It's in the fall and everybody just eats duck and it's awesome. I also like duck liver, sorry! My friends and my boyfriend all think I'm so gross with my food choices, but it's just that I'm European."

What's your favorite restaurant in LA?

"I love Pace. It's Italian food. It's just good and it tastes clean. Being European in America, it's kind of scary vibes with the food a little bit. Some of the stuff that's allowed here is really not allowed in most other places. And so whenever something tastes healthy and homemade, I like it. I love their pasta and they have crayons so you can color, so it's awesome."

What's your favorite place to shop in LA?

"I do a lot of online shopping to be honest, but there is this place that I've shopped from recently. I haven't been to their in-person store, but there is one in downtown LA. It's called Nine Two Five and I love their stuff. It's vintage and secondhand stuff, and sometimes they rework pieces and make their originals. It's really, really cool stuff. I always spend too much money on their site."

What's been entertaining you lately?

"The X Files. I started watching that show. It's really funny because it's sometimes dated, but it's kind of awesome and feels dated in the best way. And I never knew that the theme song of that show was that song. I kept hearing that song all my life and it's that spooky, song and I was like, 'Oh shit, it's from this.' So every time that plays, I get a little pep in my step."

Can you describe your perfect day?

"Wake up at 9:00 AM is perfect. It's perfect amount of sleeping in. And then get breakfast with someone's company that I enjoy and then get coffee, go to the studio, make a song that I'm really excited about—hopefully it's an easy process and the idea just comes and we're all really excited. And then maybe go dance in a studio alone in my heels and then maybe have dinner with some friends and then go to sleep next to someone that I love."

Do you believe in manifestation?

"Yes. Hella! I really, really believe in her."

What are you manifesting for the rest of 2026?

"I'm manifesting elevation for myself in all sorts of things: in my mindset as a human, emotionally, my emotional intelligence, as a writer, and I hope I improve as a performer. And I hope that when my album releases, people really like it."

What do you want to be remembered for?

"I want to be remembered for being outspoken and for inspiring people. I want to be remembered for my art."
