The 31 Best Beauty Products That Launched in January

Stay moisturized and glowy with our favorite new products.

By: Hannah Baxter, Valeriya Chupinina

Now that the holidays are over and we’re prepping for several more months of cold, dreary weather, we’ve started taking stock of our beauty cabinets. We’re stocked up on effective clean moisturizers and shared our love for a dewy cream blush, but there are quite a few new January launches that have our interest piqued. Taraji P. Henson launched her namesake hair-care line to much acclaim (we might have at least four different products in our shower right now), legendary makeup artist Gucci Westman released her first-ever lip product (spoiler: it’s really good), and one of our favorite fragrance brands created a soap in the same delicious woodsy scent as their hit candle. Plus, we found a few other must-have hydrating balms, clean foundations, and an affordable exfoliating toner that gives the famous P50 formula a run for its money. Check out all 31 of our favorites below.

TPH by Tarji Master Cleanse Targeted Scalp Wash, $15

Taraji P. Henson has been whipping up her own hair concoctions for years, and now she’s blessed us with her debut hair-care line for coily, straight, and every texture in between. We particularly love the scalp wash, which is full of balancing ingredients like tea tree oil and witch hazel to keep that delicate skin healthy and flake free. It’s ideal if you have your hair in a protective style, since the applicator allows you to access those hard-to-reach spots underneath braids. Say goodbye to that itchy feeling between washes and hello to your clean and nourished scalp.

Aveeno Kefir Cotton Blend Light Conditioning Mist, $9

Can’t decide on a styling product? Try Aveeno’s new Kefir Cotton Blend Light Conditioning Mist on for size. A light, milky spray that can be used for post-shower detangling, hair conditioning, and/or a styling spray.

Amika Reset Clarifying Gel Shampoo, $25

Gel foam for shampoo? You heard it here first. Clarifying pink clay, charcoal powder, and Indian cress extract help cleanse your scalp and even clear out your pores. Nurture your hair from the get-go so it grows stronger than ever before.

Nexxus Scalp Inergy Ultra-Light Conditioner, $15

Is stronger, shinier hair your goal for 2020? Look no further than Nexxus’s new scalp-care line. This foaming formula gently removes dirt and buildup without stripping your scalp of necessary oils in the process. It’s best for fine hair that gets greasy easily.

Ghd Helios Professional Hairdryer, $249

Dry your hair in half the time with Ghd’s new aerodynamic hair dryer. It’s lightweight but speedy and promises salon-quality blowouts at home. It was even used to create Rosalía’s gorgeous blowout for the Grammy Awards.

Crown Affair The Set, $220

Founder Dianna Cohen, an alum of Into the Gloss and Spring, just launched a minimalist new product line inspired by the ritual of hair care. The kit comes with the brand’s waffle microfibre towel, one of the two plant-based cellulose acetate combs, a hydrating oil spray, and a boar-bristle brush (which, at $62 for the brush solo, is an affordable alternative to the cult-favorite Mason Pearson).

Tresemme ProPure Genius No Rinse Leave-In Conditioner, $6

If you have thin, fine hair that is prone to breakage, especially in the dry winter months, then a nourishing leave-in conditioner that doesn’t wreck your styling is a must-have. This new spray is lightweight enough that your strands aren’t weighed down, but just a few spritzes will help maintain your hair’s hydration from day to night.

Bite Beauty Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation, $40

We already loved Bite Beauty for their creamy, high-impact lipsticks, but now they’ve gone and launched a whole new category for us to enjoy. This totally clean foundation uses micellar technology to mimic the texture and feel of your skin, with added maqui berry to douse your skin in protective antioxidants. It never feels cakey or heavy and is easily blendable with anything from a sponge to a brush or your hands. Simple!

Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette in Pillow Talk, $75

Valentine’s Day makeup for the win. Charlotte Tilbury’s new palette is inspired by her cult-classic Pillow Talk lipstick, but now translated into 12 dreamy eyeshadow shades. It ranges from champagne golds to rosy pinks to ensure the sparkliest eye looks for February 14th and beyond.

Westman Atelier Lip Suede, $85

We’ve been anxiously awaiting the launch of Gucci Westman’s first-ever lip product since first learning about it back in November, and we’re happy to report that it lives up to the hype. The four-shade lip palette provides long-lasting color without drying out your lips and is easily customizable from any of the gorgeous shades. It’s also totally clean, vegan, and cruelty-free.

Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer, $36

On the heels of the much-loved Dior Forever Skin foundation, the new concealer blends like a dream on everything from under-eye circles to hyperpigmentation. There are 28 shades in the range, which we find to be more of a medium-coverage situation rather than full, but if you’re looking for a formula that won’t dry out despite the cold temperatures, this is your new go-to.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Palette, $49

Beauty influencer AmRezy is monumental in the world of makeup, and her new palette with Anastasia is like diving into the star’s beauty closet. It’s packed with tons of color and sparkle with fabulous payoff. Bonus points for the sparkly pink packaging on this third collaboration.

Origins Flower-Infused Long-Wear Foundation SPF 20, $38

Sunscreen is always a must, even in the winter. This two-in-one foundation and non-chemical SPF gives us coverage, sun protection, and all-day wear. The 26 shades provide medium coverage with a silky finish and are infused with oils from 12 flowers, as well as flower honeys and waxes that are resistant to humidity and sweat.

Fenty Beauty Full Frontal Volume, Lift & Curl Mascara, $24

Rihanna always looks incredible, and up until now, we didn’t quite know her secret to perfect lashes. Turns out it was her mascara. Curl, lift, and volume all in one Fenty product. We never expect anything else from RiRi.

Becca Light Shifter Brightening Concealer and Corrector Duo, $36

Finding a concealer for dark circles and uneven skin tone is always a struggle, but not with BECCA’s Light Shifter Brightening Concealer and Corrector Duo. It contains hydrating hyaluronic acid so your coverage won’t dry out or flake during the day, and the light-shifting pigments ensure your complexion is impossibly dewy at all times.

YSL Beauty Rouge Volupte Rock N’ Shine Lipstick, $38

Just look at the bullet on this lipstick! If that doesn’t get you exciting to swipe on this hydrating formula, we don’t know what will. Each of the eight shades has a sparkly finish and is packed with nourishing shea butter, Candellila resin to lock in moisture, and apricot kernel oil, a natural emollient to soften the lips. The Rocking Coral shade will help brighten up your winter complexion in no time.

L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Micro Ink Pen, $11

The comb-tip applicator on this brow tint helps you mimic the hairs on your real brows, filling in the sparse areas with ease. Be gentle when you apply the formula, as it dries quickly (so as to prevent smudging) and is waterproof so no amount of sweat or rain will make your brows fall flat.

Estée Lauder Act IV by Danielle Lauder Lip Duet Tint + Balm, $50

For anyone who’s ever lost their numerous lip products in their bag, this customizable set is for you. Pair one of the nourishing lip tints with the emollient-rich balm and store them in a marbled baton for safe-keeping. You can also swap the tint for your favorite lipstick from the new Act IV collection if that suits you better.

Skin Care

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Stress Rescue Super Serum, $74

If your skin is dull, lifeless, and just plain blah, this niacinamide and superfood serum is just what you need to brighten your complexion. Ashwagandha helps skin adapt to stress while simultaneously providing you with antibacterial protection and reducing fine lines. Antioxidant-rich goji berry soothes redness and minimizes oxidative stress, so you can once again look glowy and radiant.

Versed Weekend Glow Brightening Solution, $18

Even though it’s winter, we still want to make sure our complexions are exfoliated—dirt and dead skin buildup can clog your pores and keep your skin looking dull. This new toner uses a blend of four acids—Azelaic, Kojic, Glycolic, and Lactic—to gently buff your skin without causing irritation or dryness. Just follow a once-a-day use (we like it at night after cleansing) with a nourishing moisturizer.

Mighty Patch Micropoint for Blemishes, $13

There are 173 micropoints on this pimple patch to attack the spot beneath the skin that topicals can’t reach. Anti-inflammatory ingredients are able to reach the core of the breakout and help calm your skin before it reaches a full-blown pimple.

CHANEL Beauty Le Lift Crème Yeux, $105

If you’re worried about wrinkles around your eyes, this new formula is infused with yeast extract, botanical alfalfa concentrate, and Indian chestnut extract to reduce the appearance of existing fine lines. It melts into the skin with creamy shea butter without ever feeling too heavy. Your skin will look smoother and feel firmer in no time. We prefer to apply a generous layer at night when most of our skin repair occurs.

Almay Biodegradable Clear Complexion Makeup Wipes, $6

The struggle to maintain our beauty routines while simultaneously protecting the planet’s resources is tough, but brands are finally listening to our call for recyclable and biodegradable packaging. These new face wipes are the latter, which means you can still remove every trace of mascara easily without feeling guilty about the one-and-done use. They’re still gentle enough for sensitive skin, a must this time of year.

Peter Thomas Roth Vital-E Microbiome Age Defense Cream, $75

Butterfly ginger root extract is the hero ingredient of this new cream, which protects your skin from damaging blue light. It also contains a blend of prebiotic and probiotic ingredients to support your microbiome health, the delicate protective layer over your skin, as well as a boost of antioxidants to protect against environmental aggressors that can cause dullness and fine lines.

Erborian Milk & Peel Mask, $32

If you only have five minutes to prep your skin for an event, but you’re faced with dryness and irritation, this mask is going to be your new savior. Packed with rich sesame oil, it nourishes your skin while simultaneously using exfoliating enzymes to get rid of any lingering congestion or dead skin. Skin is left smooth, supple, and delightfully soft.

Body & Fragrance

D.S. & Durga After Rain Handwash, $35

The After Rain candle was one of our must-have gifts of the season for its heady coastal rain-and-eucalyptus scent, and now the duo behind the luxe fragrance brand have blessed us with a corresponding hand wash. Our bathroom vanities have never looked so good.

Malin+Goetz, Meadowfoam Oil Balm, $48

Wow, this balm has us absolutely enamored—probably because the cracked, dry hands we always experience in the winter are now nowhere to be found. The blend of fatty acids with nourishing oils from meadowfoam seed, jojoba, sunflower, and avocado, along with plenty of botanical butters, keep your skin deeply moisturized all day long. The natural smell is also to die for.

Indie Lee De-Stress Body Wash, $24

We don’t know about you, but our shower is a sacred space for de-stressing and putting our mind at ease. That’s why we love this new body wash from Indie Lee, which uses cooling eucalyptus and patchouli along with lavender essential oils to relax. It’s coconut-derived, so your skin is nourished, and added vitamins A and B keep your skin soft and supple no matter how harsh your environment.

Maison Margiela ‘Replica’ Springtime in the Park, $135

This musky pear and Lily of the Valley scent is exactly what we imagine it will feel like when the temperatures finally rise above freezing and we can take a walk with a loved one in some beautiful location. Until then, we’ll be content spritzing this on our wrists for everyone to enjoy.

La Mer The Renewal Body Oil Balm, $195

For the days you want to replicate a spa in your own home, you need a delicious body oil to get your skin to its softest and silkiest state. This formula takes it a step further with an oil-balm hybrid steeped in La Mer’s signature The Concentrate for the most luxurious hydration imaginable. Pair it with a fluffy robe and a mug of green tea for some true relaxation.

Henry Rose Queens & Monsters, $120

Michelle Pfeiffer’s fragrance line is finally releasing a new scent since launching last April, and it’s a lovely woody addition to the all-natural collection. The top notes are fresh and clean, and the warm base adds a nice contrast that becomes more apparent as it dries down.
