Zoë Kravitz Wore A Bandana Like It’s 1999
*takes notes*

It has been the summer of square scarves and kerchiefs and in all ways possible: worn as belts (thank you, Alexa Chung), around the neck and, of course, as headwear. We’ve seen scarves with eye-catching prints and colors, spotted on Gracie Abrams, Elle Fanning, and BLACKPINK’s Jennie, to name a few, but let us not forget the classic bandana. Now, Zoe Kravitz is the latest to take on the '90s-inspired trend of a bandana tied at the back of the head.

Stepping out for an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” to promote her new film, “Caught Stealing” with Austin Butler, Kravitz’s entire look, from head-to-toe, was inspired by vintage fashion eras. Styled by Danielle Goldberg, the actor paired a custom Saint Laurent cropped '90s-esque suit vest top with low rise pinstripe pants, accessorized with vintage silver sporty Nike VSN sunglasses, a wrapped Jessica McCormack choker, and, of course, completed the look with a classic black and white bandana. The outfit served as a reminder that '90s trends will always be relevant.

We can credit the bandana accessory trend to '90s and early 2000s icons such as Aaliyah, Tupac, Christina Aguilera, and an NSYNC-era Justin Timberlake, but it was also a staple in Black culture. Bandanas served the practical function of keeping natural curly or coily hair out of one's face and became even more engrained in Black culture through hip-hop and streetwear.

With luxury brands like Miu Miu creating their own bandanas and releasing bandana print clothing (see: the brand's L’Eté 2025 Campaign), the bandana is officially crossing over from '90s culture into luxury fashion—and we're taking notes!
