Tessa Thompson's "Hedda" Press Tour Looks Are Classic & Current
From archival Celine to Spring 2026 Simone Rocha.

From her effortless cool girl ensembles to her structured red carpet looks, Tessa Thompson has been on our fashion radar for a while now. Her new film "Hedda", based on 1891 Norweigan play "Hedda Gabler", is about a woman who feels trapped in her marriage when an ex-lover reappears and shakes things up. This elongated press tour has spanned from the Toronto International Film Festival in September to "Watch What Happens Live" in NYC just yesterday, and has come along with a fruitful collaboration between Thompson and stylist Karla Welch. Thompson’s looks so far have consisted of vintage Celine by Phoebe Philo, as well as pulls from recent Khaite, Tory Burch, and Erdem collections, culminating in a series of looks that feel very current while also paying homage to classic silhouettes. The looks feature unexpected combinations, pops of color, leather moments, and more.
Below, we break down Tessa Thompson’s notable “Hedda” press tour looks.

For the "Hedda" premiere at TIFF, Tessa Thompson wore one of the simpler looks of this press tour. The black strapless Chanel Fall 2022 Haute Couture dress did have one interesting detail that I think is worth mentioning: pockets.

For a screening of "Hedda", Thompson pulled archival Spring/Summer 2018 Celine by Phoebe Philo, as we all would if we had the power to. This tan leather top features bat wings and black stripes. She paired the top with two-toned jeans and tan shoes that perfectly match the top.

Thompson wore the Khaite Quan Top in a distinct deep red to an LA screening of "Hedda". The top, constructed of Italian textiles, features strong shoulders and an asymmetrical cut. She paired the top with slouchy brown trousers for the perfect autumnal look.

Thompson attended the BFI London Film Festival Screen Talk Event in a 90s-style skirt suit set, with a the jacket featuring a notable train. She paired the set with a black satin button up top, sheer black tights, and black patent leather mary jane heels.

At a London screening and reception of "Hedda", Thompson wore an entirely leather look. She paired a heavy leather button down top with leather trousers and wore her hair in an updo for a look that was cool, laidback, and sleek all at the same time.

For a London Film Festival screening of "Hedda", Thompson pulled a look from Erdem's Spring 2026 collection. This white mini dress is sculptural and features intricate draping.

Thompson pulled from Maria McManus's Spring/Summer 2026 collection for a New York screening of "Hedda" at Museum of Arts and Design. She wore the flight jacket in Champagne Silk with the Lace Tulip Skirt in Black Silk.

Out and about in NYC, Thompson wore a full Willy Chavarria look: a matching red satin top and skirt set.

For a round of press in NYC, Thompson put together a few unexpected pieces from Tory Burch's Spring 2026 collection: a low-rise red leather midi skirt, a beige knit cardigan, a classic black belt, and brown heels.
