Runway-Inspired Outfit Formulas to Try Now
Styling tips you don’t have to wait for the fall to apply.

Watching the debut of new collections (or clicking through them online) is about more than spotting a new product. The items aren’t shown in isolation for a reason; it’s about the presentation of cohesive ideas. Whether it’s color, silhouette, styling, or even mood, fashion month is a time to be inspired. Not to mention, the more abstract concepts are better applied to your current wardrobe—we can all start wearing bright colors as soon as we want. Though the fall ’22 collections won’t hit stores until the end of the summer, we’ve recreated three runway looks that piqued our interests—and you can use the ideas right now.
Khaki Suit + Sheer Top + Silver Jewelry

In case you’re hindered by the workplace perception that surrounds a khaki suit, shake things up with a rust-hued gauzy top underneath as they did at the Nensi Dojaka show this season. Add silver jewelry to complete the already-intriguing color palette with a modern metallic finish.
Plaid Jacket + Leather Pants + Loafers

Though Gucci shows often look fantastical, the pieces themselves are pretty simple while the styling induces eccentricity. This season, we’re eyeing looks like the above that combine pieces many of us already possess (button-downs, leather pants, and loafers) in fresh, exciting ways—plus a few extra add-ons like a tie or brooches.
Ruched Skirt + Knitwear + Ladylike Shoe

Interior NYC, one of the emerging labels that caught our eye this season, leaned into sculptural silhouettes in a subtle color palette. In this look, we love the oversized knit with the ruched skirt and, of course, the addition of the ladylike mule.
