Milan Fashion Week is coming to an end, and after a week of pasta for every meal, it's quickly risen in my rankings as my favorite fashion week. While the culture and cuisine here are enough to make the trip overseas worth it, the runways have been the cherry on top for my visit to the Italian metropolis.

Throughout the runways, designers have called on us to let loose and free ourselves of all inhibitions. From small notions—like the crinkled fabrics at Jil Sander and the statement skirts at Prada—to the unmissable sex appeal oozing out of Diesel, The Attico, and Roberto Cavalli's collections (each of which had me itching to dance until 4 AM).

The creative directors here have spoken loudly through their collections, designing distinctive trends that I am certain I'll be taking back home with me. On the accessories front: inside-out handbags, extra-tall pumps, furry heels, and chunky jewels have landed permanently on my radar. For ready-to-wear, it's been all about bra tops, hot pants, leather detailing, and violet hues. Ahead, I dive into each of these trends from Milan Fashion Week—and why you should get on board.

Itty-Bitty Bra Tops

Team Coveteur has been charting the bra top trend since the SS26 season. So, when we see them on the SS27 runways, we can't help but feel giddy knowing the style isn't going anywhere. Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons at Prada incorporated the bra top trend into 21 of the 63 looks in the collection, reaffirming their love for the itty bitty top and statement skirt combination. Maria Grazia Chiuri at Fendi also gave the bra top her stamp of approval, opting for triangle-shaped versions that toe the line between swimwear and lingerie. With the trend making its way to another year, we recommend giving it a go before the temperatures drop.

Exposed Interiors

The contents of your handbag are no longer a secret. Rather, designers like Simone Bellotti at Jil Sander and Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini at The Attico are putting the inside of totes on full display, using colored liners to add a pop of color to the accessory—and in turn, the outfit. Red was the most beloved hue for that unmissable pop, but there were tons of other color combinations debuted as well; I personally can't stop thinking about the yellow-and-pink shoulder bag from Jil Sander.

Sky-High Pumps

As a kitten heel enthusiast, this one comes as a true shock—and it's something I'm still warming up to. Heels above 5 inches have been spotted stomping along almost every runway in Milan, with Roberto Cavalli and Gucci using the sky-high style to add an early aughts feel to sexy looks. Unlike many of the pumps we've been seeing lately, the SS27 iteration has an extra-thin heel for a modern, almost rebellious touch. Any daredevils ready for the challenge?

Hot Shorts

One of the most controversial trends as of late is the hot pant—and I get it, it's a tough one to actually wear in your regular life. But, at Milan Fashion Week, the style was versatile across designers, and had me seriously considering adding a pair to my need-to-purchase list. At Glenn Martens' final Diesel show, denim hot shorts were styled with slim-fit button-down shirts, turning traditional capsule wardrobe garments into sexy statement makers. On the Tod's runway, hot pants were paired with more buttoned-up pieces, too: a button-down shirt layered beneath a knit polo, a trend coat, and a pair of loafers.

Chunky Jewels

Make way for oversized, unmissable, chunky jewels in 2027. On both the Prada and Gucci SS27 runways, models adorned statement-making earrings, necklaces, and rings in rich gem tones. These pieces, while winter-appropriate at first glance, actually make for a strong addition to your warm-weather wardrobe, too. Styled with a slinky mini dress and sandals, for example, they take the outfit to the next level.

Vivid Violet

It started to creep its way into the FW26 collections, and now, for SS27, there's no missing violet. The acidic hue has proven its versatility, with Demna at Gucci utilizing it for a naked dress, and Louise Trotter at Bottega Veneta offering a bright violet blazer. This range shows that the color has no bounds, and that you should be adding a violet option to your wardrobe ASAP ahead of the summer season.

Feathered Heels

Can you wear feathers during the warm weather months? The runways in Milan say absolutely—just add them to your heels. On the Blumarine and The Attico runways, the toe-concealing style brought playfulness and femininity to the ensembles. It draws the eye down, in the best kind of way, and I think this style will (and should!) quickly make its way to the wedding guest dressing circuit.

Leather Finishes

Of the Milan Fashion Week trends, the leather details trend sits at the top of the list for most practical. At Bottega Veneta, Louise Trotter proved the impact of a strong leather belt, using the style to punctuate looks—without the belt, it'd simply be incomplete. The same goes for the Max Mara SS27 runway, where leather belts rounded out the ensembles, sitting high on the waist for an added cinching effect. This is one that's simply about polish. If an outfit feels incomplete, this is where you should turn.
