London Fashion Week, second in the ready-to-wear circuit, has come to a close, and everyone has moved on to Milan. But we're not quite done thinking about what we witnessed on the grungy British runways over the weekend and into the early half of the week. Of all the European stops, London is certainly the most rebellious and innovative, but never lacking in beauty, and this season for Spring/Summer 2027, the London Fashion Week trends were all about flashy embellishments and sexy touches from the bedroom.

String Theory

Fringe was clearly on the mind at LFW this season, but less in a western way and more in an art deco way. At Roskanda, stringy tassels hung off voluminous dresses, while at Erdem, silky printed evening gowns looked as though they had gone through the paper shredder. Over at Ahluwalia, bodycon dresses ended in silk tassels, alongside neck scarves and skirts that were layered with pants and jackets for texture and dimension. It was the roaring '20s all over again!

Shoulder To Shoulder

Seems as though NYFW set the tone for exposed shoulders this season. Back on US soil, we saw a series of examples with straps dropped off the shoulder at Tory Burch and Altuzarra. Now, in London, Dreaming Eli, Simone Rocha, Erdem and KNWLS were all on the same wavelength, using off-the-shoulder straps and silhouettes to give everything a relaxed, bedroom effect.

Waist Down

The pantsless trend may have spiked a couple of years back, but that didn't stop brands like KNWLS, Mowalola, and Simone Rocha from tapping the styling trick this season. At Simone Rocha, it was all about argyle briefs, while at KNWLS, it was all about tricks to look like pants and skirts were falling down, exposing models underwear, and Mowalola was straight glam with lurex panties and matching bra tops.

The Art Of Adornment

Embellishment played a part at London Fashion Week in a key way. Over at Sean McGirr's McQueen, gowns were embellished with sequins and silver leaves aplenty, while over at Erdem, crystals adorned mesh dresses, satin panties, and skirts that turned into knitwear and suit jackets. For Burberry, it was Daniel Lee's collaboratio with Celia Birtwell that saw her famous happy faces translated into sequins that covered jumpers and pumps. And it wouldn't be an embellishment trend without Simone Rocha, who added ornate crystals to sheer dresses, while over at Chopova Lowena, a more casual approach was taken by blinging out jersey mini dresses and tights.
