Grace Wales Bonner's Historic Hermès Appointment & Pierpaolo's First Balenciaga Campaign
All of the Fashion news you may have missed this week.

Welcome back to Fashion Bulletin, a weekly column where Coveteur's senior fashion editor, Ella O’Keeffe, recaps all the buzzy industry news you from the week.
Happy Friday to everyone, especially Grace Wales Bonner, who is the Hermès creative director of menswear and the first Black woman to be at the helm of a major fashion house in history.
Last week, we covered the news of Véronique Nichanian’s exit, who will leave her 37-year tenure in 2026, with Wales Bonner succeeding her. Each time a menswear role opens up at a luxury house, Wales Bonner’s name gets thrown into the hat, and after a disappointing amount of misses, she has finally bagged a top spot at one of the world’s most luxurious design houses, hopefully providing a much-needed shake up for Hermès’ menswear department.
Back in 2019, Wales Bonner told System: “A dream of mine would be to work with a tailoring brand, as that is at the core of what I am doing,” she said, naming “Hermès or even a Savile Row tailoring house.” Just as I was mourning Nichanian’s exit as another woman at the helm lost, the news of Wales Bonner’s appointment has reaffirmed my faith in at least part of the industry. We still have a ways to go before we see her work at Hermès, though—her menswear debut for Hermès is slated to take place in January 2027. For now we will just have to continue enjoying her namesake offering.

Balenciaga Unveils First Campaign Led By Pierpaolo Piccioli

David Sims for Balenciaga
For his first campaign at the helm of Balenciaga, Pierpaolo Piccioli has teamed up with David Sims to capture the essence of Piccioli’s Balenciaga woman.Who better to represent than modern supermodels Mona Tougaard and Sandra Murray, who are captured, draped on a hotel bed in moments of ease? “For my first campaign for the House, I wanted to create something that felt truly personal and could tell a story of effortless beauty and delicate humanity. Working with my dear friend and artist, David Sims, made it even more special.” said Piccioli in a press release. Piccioli has always been an auteur of female beauty, and I love the softness of which this campaign was captured. Against the harshness of Demna’s legacy, it’s nice to see something a little more pure back at Balenciaga.
Vyrao Pops Up In NYC

Bridgit Beyer for Vyrao
Mia Khalifa, Lake Bell and Yasmin Sewell walk into a pop-up...This week, fashion veteran Sewell's fragrance brand Vyrao pops up in New York's Soho neighborhood for a multi-sensory scent experience. In partnership with design firm AMO, the space is an embodiment of the Vyrao belief that "energy is everything," allowing anyone to come and experience the full lineup of scents (the most recent two, Ludatrix and Ludeaux, were fronted by Khalifa and Isamaya Ffrench, respectively).
To celebrate, Sewell hosted an intimate dinner—creative directed by WSA’s Gabriella Khalil—that included Khalifa, Bell, Gabby Bernstein and Raul Lopez of LUAR. "Yasmin has the special ability to attract the best, most creative people in the world around her," says our EIC Faith Xue, who was in attendance. "The space feels more like an art gallery than a typical pop-up, and is a true reflection of her vision for Vyrao as an energetically-charged fragrance brand. In an increasingly over-saturated beauty market, Vyrao feels like a breath of fresh air."
