Gabbriette And Iris Law Go To Heavn & Jonathan Anderson's Defining Aesthetic

Welcome back to Fashion Bulletin, a weekly column where Coveteur's senior fashion editor, Ella O’Keeffe, recaps all the buzzy industry news you from the week.

This week on the Fashion Bulletin, the biggest news is undoubtedly one of the last pieces of the designer musical chairs puzzle finally slotting into place: the announcement that Jonathan Anderson’s Dior menswear role will expand into womenswear, accessories, and haute couture, following the news of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s exit from the house. I don’t remember where I saw it, but someone said this week that we are living in a time where the defining aesthetic is that of Jonathan Anderson, which reminds me of Galliano’s golden years at the helm of the same house and his namesake label. Anderson has already gained his superstar status from a hugely successful 13 years at Loewe, and where Galliano’s vision existed in a realm of fantasy, there is a sense of contemporary groundedness in Anderson’s silhouette, despite his reputation leaning on the surreal.

As mentioned last week, I enjoyed Chiuri’s couture, but Anderson gaining access to the resources a house like Dior can provide is certainly an exciting moment in time, and one that many people have been waiting for for months, if not years. It’s entirely possible that we have not yet seen the breadth of what Anderson is capable of just yet, and Dior’s resources have the ability to unlock these ideas.

Balenciaga’s Spring 26 Collection

Balenciaga

Speaking of unlocking ideas, for Demna’s final ready-to-wear collection for Balenciaga, the Georgian designer created a 35-look collection comprised of pieces from previous collections, new pieces, and garments from his personal wardrobe. The collection offered a look back at some of his most influential silhouettes from his time at Balenciaga, like his highly-identifiable oversized tailoring, tracksuits, and knife boot silhouette. “It is the end of a wonderful era that I wanted to capture and celebrate by creating the Balenciaga “archetypes”—the people, the silhouettes, the vibes and the ideas that have all been fundamental in my work for this amazing house," Demna said in a press release.

To accompany the collection, he went out with the collaboration of the decade: with the now-elusive pop princess Britney Spears. The collaboration—which features a limited-edition series of ready-to-wear and accessories, an exclusive playlist curated by Britney Spears, and two remixes of her most iconic works by BFRND—celebrates a global cultural icon who shaped the sound and style of pop music. The series marks Britney Spears’ first collaboration to simultaneously span the worlds of fashion and music.

Gabbriette and Iris Law Go To Heavn

Heavn

The It girls have been starring in campaigns this week, with today’s release of the new Marc Jacobs Heavn campaign, starring Iris Law and Gabbriette in a series of visuals recreating scenes and stills from the cult-loved 2003 movie, Thirteen. It's always fun when creative directors lean into hyper-specific cultural references, and with our collective fixation on nostalgia, it's reminded us that this is the perfect time to rewatch the coming of age classic.

A New York Minute With Marc Jacobs

Orveda

Speaking about Marc Jacobs, I went to a talk with him and Bridget Foley on Tuesday at Orveda spa, as part of Maison Orveda’s Cultural Tastemakers Series. The two reflected on 20 years of Jacobs’ career in fashion and beauty, looking back at his legacy bringing ready-to-wear at Louis Vuitton, and teased the potential return of his beauty line.

EmRata’s New Gucci Campaign

Daniel Arnold for Gucci

Summer is finally upon us, and the campaigns are reflecting the shift in temperature. Back to It-girls, Emily Ratajkowski starred in a series of images, released this week, promoting Gucci’s iconic GG monogram. We saw a preview of these images while she was shooting the campaign, lensed by Daniel Arnold in Cannes during the Film Festival.

A Very Burberry Summer

Burberry

Elsewhere, Burberry is leaning into Glastonbury’s upcoming approach, with a campaign titled "Burberry Festival," featuring a slew of British icons and talent from the world of music in full festival mode—including Oasis’ Liam Gallagher, and Glastonbury queens Cara Delevingne, Alexa Chung and more. I’ve never wanted to stomp around in the mud more!
