In 2026, Everything Is Coming Up Fur-Trimmed

It's all about the details!

Lately, as I've been browsing the latest celebrity looks and scrolling through looks being sent down fashion month runways, I've noticed a pattern: everything seems to be coming up fur-trimmed. As a massive fan of a '70s inspired Penny Lane coat and someone who still, to this day, spends cumulative hours searching Depop, eBay, Etsy, and any resell platform you can think of for the perfect black one, I co-signed the fur trimmed coat ages ago—only I didn't consider other fur-trimmed garments or acknowledge fur trimming's full potential. Until now, that is—and I have some street style looks from our favorite celebrities and Copenhagen Fashion Week to thank for that.

Last month, actress Camila Morrone strutted down a New York City street en route to a "Today Show" appearance in a fur-trimmed coat from Gabriela Hearst's Fall 2025 collection. The coat in question wasn't trimmed in the subtle, coordinated way that the Penny Lane coats I have my eye on are. Rather, this black leather trench coat's hem was a relatively huge panel of a contrasting white shearling—and this is where my newfound, slightly altered fur-trim fixation began.

My fur-trim fixation grew courtesy of Dior who, for their Fall/Winter 2026 menswear collection, debuted coats with the most dramatic and oversized fur trimmed cuffs imaginable—just imagine a large fur trimmed cuff in your mind and triple the size—and Anya Taylor-Joy ,who pulled a coat from that collection to wear to Dior's Haute Couture Week show.

Seeing the coat on the runway and on the streets of Paris led me to a newfound understanding of fur trimemings: they're incredibly versatile, hold the power to add a subtle luxe detail, but can also really bring the drama.

Just the other day, Kelly Rowland stepped out in New York in a look that felt wholly winter appropriate, heavy warm fabrics and all. The singer wore a checkered wool dress with a built in necktie complete with a fur-trimmed hem, which takes the look from business casual chic to elevated.

But could we really even call it a trend with only one runway reference to back up our claims? That's where Copenhagen Fashion Week enters the conversation.

OpéraSPORT embraced fur trimmings through a provocative party top designed intentionally slung off the shoulder and a blazer-style jacket for a lux, glamorous finish. Over at the Studio Constance show, a series of coats emerged down the runway with fur trimmed cuffs, hoods, collars, and lapels. Also notably, a midi skirt with a centered slit and large faux fur hem.

Other designers used Copenhagen Fashion Week as an opportunity to embrace (faux) fur trimmings, such as Gestuz and SSON. Because it is, after all, all about the details.
