Christopher John Rogers and Farrow & Ball Collaboration

Would you like to live in a Christopher John Rogers world? A world vibrating with high-frequency color and prints? The highly respected fashion designer, known for his insatiable fondness for the color wheel, has partnered with UK-based paint and wallpaper maker Farrow & Ball on Carte Blanche, a capsule collection brimming with patterns and color. Rogers describes the 12-color range, from a deep vivid blue to the perfect milky white, as “bold” but “livable.”

“With wearables, I feel that you have the space to be a bit more intense with color,” says Rogers. “You can change your outfit daily, or even hourly, to reflect how you feel at that moment. Spaces are a bit more committal, so it was nice to develop work that felt declarative and directional but still livable.” The prints and colors aren’t exact transcriptions of past work, but the brand’s overarching motifs remain consistent. “The stripe is a classic and something we return to season after season, and we exploded the proportions here,” he says. “Dots are also a recurrent motif for us, as are checks. We really wanted to work with the codes of CJR here and create something modern that would sit seamlessly in the Farrow & Ball universe.” Special moments in Rogers’ past, be that the fried green tomatoes his grandmother used to make in “Raw Tomatillo” or the pinky lavender shade of “Shallot,” alluding to the prominent ingredient in Cajun cuisine, shape each hue.

Founded over 75 years ago, Farrow & Ball is known for their rich pigments and unique wallpapers, to which this collaboration aligns. “Initially, I admired Christopher’s use of color, the bold, vibrant shades, of course, but really the way he combines color in an unexpected way,” says creative director Charlotte Cosby. “I particularly loved the neutral pieces like his black suiting with the rainbow buttons or a great pair of white trousers that had multicolored belt loops.” The first partnership with a fashion designer and the second to include wallpaper, the crossover will be available beginning September 7th.
