Not to be dramatic, but I don’t know if there are two brands that better represent the duality of my personal style, than Miu Miu and Church’s. The former, a youthful yet subversive take on femininity. The latter, a testament to classic heritage and superior craftsmanship. Both ideals I view as essential to a great outfit. So when the two came together to design a collection of footwear, my heart was aflutter.

The collection features two styles, each available in both black and brown colorways. The first style is a brushed leather lace-up oxford brogue while the second features double monk straps with silver embellishment. Both riffs on classic Church’s silhouettes and wing-tip perforation, but rounder and broader with wrong-yet-so-right rubber soles alluding to that classic Miu Miu flair.
The shoes retail for $1,170 and $1,320, respectively. I’ll have to lean on ye olde piggy bank, but this investment might be worth it. I predict a brogue and derby shoe renaissance come fall, and I’d like to get ahead of it. I’m already picturing the lace-up variety styled with a contrastingly elegant slip dress and a rather proper cardigan. I just hope Miuccia will approve. As part of their Fall/Winter 2023 collection, the capsule is available for pre-order online beginning August 29th and will launch in stores on September 6th.
