Obviously, summer is the season of sandals, and while you can never go wrong with the classic shapes—lace-up, T-bar, etc.—it’s fun to experiment with new silhouettes. Caged sandals have been popping up all over Instagram in what we believe is a backlash to the “barely there” sandal trend. They are a slight riff on the classic men’s fisherman sandal—a more feminine iteration rendered in straps of daintier widths. We typically see them done in leather, but the silhouette is also a favorite in jelly form.
The styling options are abundant. We’ve seen them on Instagram peeking out of a wide-leg pant or providing a little contrast for a voluminous sundress. As the temps begin to drop, opt for a classic pairing with cropped vintage denim.
