Dragon’s blood, anyone?

By: Hannah Baxter

In case you needed a reminder that October is the best month for makeup and beauty (it is Halloween, after all), we selected  the best product launches of the month to remind you. From the very seasonally appropriate Dragon's blood serum to Birkenstock’s debut skin and body-care line, plus Michelle Phan’s latest lip gloss, these are the 25 products we can’t stop talking about.

Birkenstock Natural Skincare Intensive Moisturizing Rich Cream, $100

Fans of the crunchy-glam Birkenstock, rejoice, because they just launched a skin-care line. Naturally, it contains cork—specifically, cork oak extract, as well as snow mushroom, which works to deeply hydrate and calm the skin. Added argan oil supports skin elasticity for a youthful glow. We love that the texture is exceptionally silky without a too-high shine of a finish.

Wander Beauty High Line Liquid Eyeliner, $22

A paraben- and mineral-oil-free liquid liner that still delivers high-impact pigment? That’s exactly what we got with this new Wander Beauty release. The thin tip is perfect for getting that ultra-slim cat-eye effect.

Necessaire The Body Serum, $45

You’ve heard every beauty editor wax poetic about the hydrating effect of hyaluronic acid, so why didn’t anyone think to formulate a product for your body with it until now? That’s what Necessaire sought to do with their new body serum, with HA, vitamins B3 and B5, and ceramide NP working in tandem with your moisturizer to give you soothed and replenished skin.

Maison Margiela Replica: Coffee Break, $126

With winter looming large, we've been searching for cozy fragrances that remind us that this time of year can be filled with fireside coffee and cashmere pajamas. You’ll experience all that and more with this delicious new scent from Maison Margiela’s Replica line.

Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Glaze All Over Foil Luminizer, $49

You might have spotted the models at Marc Jacob’s NYFW looking particularly glowy this season, and this luminizer is the reason why. The new Jet Girl is a deeper shade that looks stunning on darker skin tones and fair complexions alike. Prepare to resemble a glazed donut.

Bloomeffects Royal Tulip Cleansing Jelly, $39

The antioxidant-and-amino-acid-rich tulip complex in this cleanser keeps your skin soft without stripping away natural oils. It removes makeup like a dream and leaves you feeling cleansed and hydrated. It’s also sulfate-, paraben-, phthalate-, and fragrance-free.

Benefit Cosmetics Brow Zings Pro Palette, $39

If you’re new to doing your own brows, this palette is a great place to start. It contains four powders to fill in sparse patches and three waxes to sculpt and shape—two pigmented and one clear.

Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Hot Oil Concentrate, $30

If you’re a fan of the cult-favorite Invisible Oil from Bumble and bumble, this treatment is going to be your new must-have for fall and winter. Leave it on for two minutes before you shower, and experience impossibly soft and hydrated hair with only one use. Be sure to not use too much if your hair is thin or fine.

DHC Olive Virgin Oil Skin Essence, $36

J-beauty staple DHC released this olive-oil-focused essence to help repair the skin’s moisture barrier and prevent free-radical damage. And no, it will not clog your pores the way piling food-grade olive oil on your face would (but we are a fan of cleansing with it).

Kosas Wet Lip Oil Glosses, $27

The addition of skin-care ingredients like hyaluronic acid, peptides, and avocado oil allow these lip glosses to not only add a flush of color to your lips, but also deeply hydrate, plump, and stimulate collagen production.

Cocokind Sea Kale Clay Mask, $18

This collab with Jeannette Ogden of @shutthekaleup utilizes blue sea kale to douse your skin with antioxidants, while oceanic clay draws out excess sebum. Cucumber seed powder lightly exfoliates dead skin so you’re left with a smooth, supple complexion.

Huda Beauty Nude Obsessions Eyeshadow Palettes, $29

There’s no denying that Huda Kuttan knows her way around an eyeshadow palette, and her latest release is no different. This new collection comes in three different shades, all with gorgeous shimmery and matte nudes, reds, and taupes.

R+Co Two Way Mirror Smoothing Oil, $32

You know when you pass a woman on the street and it seems like she has a literal halo of light around her hair? That’s what this oil is designed to do. Flyaways are smoothed, and a vegan silicone complex adds otherworldly shine.

Le Rouje Velours Lipstick, $32

Leave it to a French girl to create our new favorite lipstick for fall. It’s a creamy formula applied with a doe-foot applicator that dries matte. The brownish cranberry Camille shade will be in our bag all season long.

CHANEL Beauty Éclat Magnétique de CHANEL Illuminating Powder, $70

Aside from being one of the most *beautiful* powders we’ve ever seen, this new illuminator gives your skin that elusive lit-from-within glow that usually only comes from running a mile in 100 percent humidity. Metal peach is our new secret weapon for impossibly dewy skin.

Bed Head Smooth Operator Straightening Heat Brush, $50

If you’ve got naturally straight hair or are a fan of heat styling until it’s sleek and smooth, this heated brush is ideal for second-day touch-ups. It works quickly and eliminates snarls or bends so you can be out the door in minutes.

Victoria Beckham Beauty Bitten Lip Tint, $34

Ever wonder what perfectly moody shade Posh Spice used to wear? Victoria Beckham is getting us closer than ever with her new universal lip tint. It’s a deep plum color that applies like a thin gloss, and once it dries down, it will not budge. Added hyaluronic acid and squalane keep your lips feeling soothed and hydrated throughout the day for a “your lips but better” look.

OZNaturals Dragon’s Blood Facial Serum, $25

No, this isn’t actually blood from a mythical creature—dragon's blood is a sap from the Croton Lechleri tree in the Amazon. It’s chock-full of antioxidants and strengthens your skin’s barrier to lock in moisture. Added vitamin C brightens, while green tea soothes irritation.

Dior Diorific Vernis Happy 2020 Top Coat, $29

Whether it’s on its own or used as a top coat, this purple sparkle polish is the stuff of dreams. Pro tip—if you’re trying to grow out your nails but are still experiencing breakage, a glitter polish is basically indestructible and will prevent unwanted damage.

EM Cosmetics Morning Dew Crystal Shine Lip Gloss, $20

Michelle Phan had teased this new lip gloss on her social channels last month, and to the relief of fans everywhere, it’s finally available to purchase. With impossibly high shine without that dreaded tacky texture, we predict this will be our go-to gloss for a minimalist look all winter long.

Tiffany & Love for Him, $95

The two new fragrances from Tiffany share the note of blue sequoia, but we’re partial to the woodry citrus of the men’s scent. Lush cardamom and spicy ginger contrast beautifully with mandarin orange, juniper, and vetiver.

Dr. Perricone High Potency Growth Factor Firming & Lifting Serum, $129

Dr. Perricone’s specialty is maintaining a youthful complexion, which this serum targets with the use of polyamine growth factor, plus eggshell membrane to improve skin’s moisture barrier and smooth texture. Encapsulated retinol helps plump the skin and accelerate skin renewal.

Covergirl Exhibitionist 24HR Ultra Matte Lipstick, $9

If you’ve been dying to try a diffused lip look, this new matte, long-wear lipstick is exactly what you need. Just apply to the center of your lips, and buff out with a lip brush until the color fades into your natural lip line. It won’t budge throughout the day, and your lips will still feel hydrated.

Byredo 1996 Hair Perfume, $75

This scent was inspired by “Kirsten 1996,” a photograph by Inez & Vinoodh in that year. Patchouli, leather, violet, and vanilla mingle for a warm yet hypnotic scent. Spritz into your hair, and prepare to be embraced by everyone you meet.

Patrick Ta Monochrome Moment Velvet Blush, $32

The second drop from Patrick Ta contains luscious neutral shades, from a lip pencil, lip cream, and this velvety blush. Like his other products, the color payoff is insane, and the finish is a perfect demi-matte that settles into the skin like it was always meant to be there. The added silken powders are to thank for the buttery texture.
