Getting Ready with Marchesa’s Co-Founder Georgina Chapman

If you’re going to tag along with someone during Oscars weekend, there’s probably no better candidate than Georgina Chapman. As co-founder of Marchesa, pretty much any party-ready poufy dress is as good as hers; and when you factor in her plus-one to these things (Weinstein Company co-chair and producer Harvey Weinstein), chances are youre more or less set for a picture-perfect Oscars weekend.

With all of the above in mind, you can probably imagine that when we had the chance to drop in on Chapman getting ready for the Weinstein Company pre-Oscars party Saturday night, we not only took it, we ran with it. We then proceeded to rifle through the rack of gorgeous Chapman-designed custom gowns, shoes, and jewelry in a suite at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, sip a little champagne, and catch up with Georgina on what goes down during her awards season getting-ready process. All in an Oscars weekends work, right?

“I believe that very dramatic makeup calls for softer, simpler hair and vice-versa. It’s all about balance. Getting dressed-up should be about having fun, so I don’t follow any hard-and-fast rules when it comes to fashion and beauty.”
