These Are Our Favorite Beauty Looks from the Oscars

Smoky Eyes and Sparkly Gowns!

By: Alicia Cesaro

The 89th Academy Awards is finally here, and while most people are anxiously awaiting the Best Picture announcement, were out here watching the red carpet on multiple screens, giving ourselves a self-induced sugar high on Sour Patch Kids and caramel popcorn, all while simultaneously live-Tweeting memes from our phones and analyzing every sequin and smoky eye that goes down the carpet. And while there was a ton of vintage old-Hollywood glamour (because, duh, it’s the Oscars), there were also some extra extra touches, like a lavender eye and inky black bob, that caught our eye. So while you cross your fingers for Moonlight’s win, click through the slideshow for some awards-season makeup porn and then go see the gowns that gave us all the feels.

Taraji Henson

Between the tousled curls, the diamonds, the insanely flattering velvet gown, *and* that smoky, smoldering eye, Taraji straight-up killed the red carpet.

Olivia Culpo

Um, hi, super dramatic lavender eyes, pink lips, and baby-doll eyelashes. Between Oscar de la Renta’s fall show and this, we’re naming lavender spring’s favorite eye shade.

Ginnifer Goodwin

Step one is ensuring an otherwise covered-up, ladylike gown doesn’t look too buttoned up? Add an inky pixie cut and even inkier eyeliner, which Goodwin totally nailed.

Karlie Kloss

Old-Hollywood glamour will always rule on the red carpet—especially at the Oscars. Which is why Kloss’s soft curls and bold red lip look so stunning against that caped Stella gown and that diamond choker.

Hailee Steinfeld

“Beyond” is all the E! red carpet anchors could say about Steinfeld’s fresh makeup…and they are 100% accurate. The heavy eye shadow and brow with glossy lips is young, modern, romantic, pretty, all the things!

Emma Roberts

Again, with the vintage bombshell vibes! Roberts’s glowing, flawless skin, bronze eye and matte red lip were so stunning—especially paired with that Armani dress.

Ruth Negga

Between the headband (love a good headband), dangly earrings, and monochromatic lip-and-dress pairing, Negga’s entire look convinced us that more is more is more.
