Often, quite frankly, models are the sort of thing myth and legend are made of—we mean, we've all caught wind of the second-hand stories behind the likes of Kate Moss, right? You know, agent finds girl in mall, girl becomes next big thing, girl becomes the only thing, girl goes on to make a double-digit million-dollar salary. Sound familiar?
And so it kind of goes without saying that when we feel as if we've come across the next best thing, we jump at the opportunity to be a part of it. Fast forward to our day in the life of Shu Pei Qin with Glow Magazine and Maybelline over at Milk Studios. In between our secondhand makeover vis-à-vis Maybelline make-up artists-slash-magicians, to the plethora of ColorShow polishes on hand; we like to think we fully got the model-on-the-verge treatment. We also took the liberty to ask her a few questions: her first ever designer splurge, heels versus flats and what exactly she was toting around in her Stella McCartney Falabella bag. Oh, and as for the latter? Try vitamins, a MetroCard and a few tubes of Baby Lips. Models—they're just like us, you guys!
...On her first designer splurge:
For modeling I have to wear high heels, so I think my first splurge was a pair Jimmy Choo heels.
...On her first fashion week in New York:
It was crazy. Because it was my first fashion week in New York, I had to see all of the people - all of the casting directors, all of the designers. I had twenty castings per day. I stayed in Queens, so it wasfar. Now I live in the city, it's so much better. I love New York.
...On her favorite beauty product:
For me, mascara.
...On her favorite movies:
You know, the little yellow guys... Despicable Me!
...On lipstick or lip-gloss:
Lipstick.
...On high heels or flats:
Both.
...On careers other than modeling:
I don't know, I never think about it!
