While we’re all for NYC rooftop parties and boat rides to Governors Island for a few dozen oysters, oftentimes the best thing about summer in the city is leaving it. (Just walk into a subway station on a 95-degree day, and you’ll understand why.) So it’s no surprise that each weekend from June to September, hundreds of city-dwellers escape to Long Island for some much-needed beach time.
