Burkman Bros. Inspiration Trip

And… we're off! Where to? We're following the duo behind the Burkman Bros on their W Hotels x CFDA Inspiration Trip to Bangkok, Thailand. Yeah, no big deal or anything! As the boys told us before jetting off, "Bangkok is one of our favourite cities in the world - Fresh coconuts on every corner, warm weather, tasty food and the land of massage! Thai hospitality is something special that no other culture does better."

After arriving to W Bangkok around 6PM, Ben and Doug headed off for a quick nightcap at the Living Room Bar, the hotel itself being one of the brand's newest outposts, before turning in after a long day of traveling. They spent the following day visiting with local Thai designer MILLIN, touring their offices and trading design notes. The boys spent the evening chatting with local press and media over on the Wet Deck, with editors from some seriously major Thai publications in attendance before heading to a fancy sit-down dinner at The Kitchen Table, followed up with after-dinner drinks over at WooBar. Not bad, huh?

Friday morning, it was more press - Ben and Doug had early morning interviews with a handful of newspapers and magazines, including the Thai outposts of Nylon and Esquire, as well as the Bangkok Post. As for their evening entertainment? Taking in a Thai boxing match before heading back to the W Bangkok.

The next day saw the Burkman Bros. boys meeting up with our boy Tommy Ton, visiting a local flower market for a photoshoot. As Doug told us, "W Bangkok was the base camp for all the cool kids in town" during Bangkok fashion week. The whole gang took a trip up to the Chatachuk Weekend Market with the team from W Hotels, as well as Vogue Thailand. We'll let you imagine the snapping away that ensued! That evening, W Hotels hosted the closing party and the very last runway show for Bangkok's own Fashion Week (with Doug and Ben sitting front row, of course). 
 
The following Sunday, the boys returned to the weekend market for a little inspiration for their upcoming collection, as Doug told us, "We spent quite a bit of time exploring the various markets in and around Bangkok. The most memorable was the flower market - sensory overload for the eyes and the nose. The colors and textures will surely play themselves out in our fabrics and prints for SS14."

After spending the morning getting in one more quick interview over breakfast with a local publication, the boys had enough time for a quick coffee and chat with none other than the Editor-in-Chief and CEO of Vogue Thailand before their flight. Friends in high places, right? After making their way back home, the boys behind the Burkman Bros told us, "The association with both W Hotels and the CFDA definitely has a WOW factor. The opportunities that have come our way thru both have been incredible. How do we top this?" Lets just say we can't wait to see.
