As the seasons change and the temperature ebbs and flows, so does my desire to shop. While I manage to keep my cart adding urges at bay for most of the year–relying on tried-and-true turtlenecks and favorite denim while supplementing my existing wardrobe with a few statement pieces from my Nuuly subscription–I go feral with my credit card as soon as we hit the first 70-degree weather days in NYC. It’s as if I suddenly become a new character who is prepared for anything that the season has in store. While my fiancé has given me no indication that he’s whisking me away on a surprise trip to Italy, he also hasn’t explicitly said that he’s not, and I prefer to remain prepared either way. While some may call it a seasonal splurge, I like to consider it the thoughtful curation of a storyboard—allowing a camera roll filled with screenshots of the pieces that I’m currently coveting to manifest fabulous summer that lies ahead.
