Winter 2025-2026 is officially the season of the statement coat—I don't make the rules. When you're in a rush to get somewhere in the dead of winter and keeping warm is the only thing that you can prioritize at the moment, sometimes you need the coat to make the outfit. Don't get me wrong, team Coveteur knows that power of basics and wholeheartedly encourages classic outerwear, too. But I also believe that a rotation of statement coats is the key to keeping your winter wardrobe feeling fun and alive.
As I’ve scoured the internet for the best celebrity looks throughout the fall and now winter, I’ve been drawn to statement coats, whether they be dramatic mob moss furs or playful prints. Fall/Winter 2025-2026 runways were all about statement coats: Rabanne’s collection, for example, featured a penny lane-style coat with transparent vinyl sleeves, a white fur coat with individual tail-like pieces as the hem, and more dramatic furs.

Chloé's Fall/Winter 2025-2026 collection played with fur and texture for the sake of making a statement, too. '70s-inspired Afghan coats combined fur trims with colored quilted textured, in one case, and a floral embroidery in another case. The collection also featured a cropped jacket with bold, dramatic fur shoulders and a leather torso.
