It's finally time to retire those beauty supply store loofahs that have served us well, because our summer body care routines just got a much needed upgrade. With the help of sunscreen brand Vacation, Soft Services' cult favorite buffing bar has returned with an elevated scent of coconut, banana, pool water, pool toys, and swimsuit fabric—essentially the most nostalgic version of summertime in the form of a bar.

The mineral-derived microcrystals of the “VACATION” Buffing Bar team up with shea butter, aloe, and glycerin to offer moderate-to-intense exfoliation, but the process is inherently customizable: use gentle pressure and slow motions on more sensitive areas, and buff more intensely on tougher areas that can take the heat.

Although anything in the form of a bar might seem old school in the age of high-end body washes and scrubs, there's a strong case to be made for the buffing bar as the superior choice. Buffing bars offer more targeted exfoliation and allow one to work intensely on one specific area. Plus, as someone constantly frustrated by the shower mess that a body scrub immediately leaves behind, the mess-free exfoliation of it all is very warmly welcomed—and we predict that it will be by beauty editors and beauty lovers everywhere.

As someone who has tried my fair share of beauty products with lofty claims that underdeliver, I was most interested in what this buffing bar could do for my Keratosis Pilaris. It took some trial and area to establish how much pressure and motion the KP ridden parts of my body (my chest and stomach) could handle but, once I did, I committed to repeating this 2-3 times week. While I would never claim for something to be a one off or one use fix for something as stubborn, pesky, and persistent as KP, I can offer this: the areas of my body cursed with KP immediately felt softer and smoother. While the KP is still visible, the immediate results that I received leave me feeling that, with consistent use, my KP can be tamed—plus, it made my entire shower experience feel (and smell) more luxe, which is arguably reason enough to make the purchase.

I think our beauty, skincare, and wellness routines should evoke joy. I also think joy is easily achieved when a product both delivers results and offers a pleasurable user experience whether through texture or scent—these are both the case for Soft Service’s “VACATION” Buffing Bar, now available to shop so we can all get our skin summer ready in solidarity.
