Apparently, Tibi & I Are On the Same Page About Cherry Red Socks
The easiest addition to your fall wardrobe.

At Tibi’s Spring ‘24 runway show, the looks largely pulled from a pretty neutral color palette. Stormy greys, creamy whites, and midnight blues took precedence over rainbow hues—save their feet. A few looks featured cherry red ankle socks styled with tonal ballet flats (though my sources tell me this is in fact a boot with a trompe l’œil sock-and-sandal effect, but that doesn’t change the sentiment). More so than the colorful pop the footwear provided, I loved the contrast between the seemingly dreary hues of the clothing and the shock upon glancing down.

The styling also provided me with a bit of internal validation as I had recently been experimenting with a similar combination on my own. Prior to the show, I wore my own favorite pair of Comme Si socks with black Eledera fisherman sandals to a fashion week party with a concert tee and a plaid skirt. Later that same week, I tried the same combo with white tailored shorts and a navy top. Both offered a way to feel like fall, while still wearing very few layers in this ‘second summer’ heat.

The tactic of pairing a bright red sock with summer footwear is as practical as it is interesting; what a great way to provide summer footwear viability for fall! Now, your sandals, flats, mules, and loafers can persist in your closet after the weather renders bare ankles obsolete. Plus, the dopamine hit of the subtle pop of a bright color should not be overlooked.
