10 Things We Consumed This Week: From Stanley Tucci’s Sandwich to the TikTok Tabi Takedown

Welcome to Coveteur’s Consumer Diaries! As our co-dependent relationship with the algorithm deepens with time, the bottomless scroll has turned us all into 24/7 consumers. As we consume varying degrees of news, targeted ads, trailers, shopping, and user-generated content, all accordioned together in an endless feed—our consumer habits have reached a fever pitch. Each week, we are asking Coveteur staff members about what they consumed this past week, and connecting the dots on our consumer behavior with a trendspotting Venn diagram.

September is off to a wild start—the US Open is in full swing, the flags are half-mast in Margaritaville, and the New York tinder Tabi thief has been brought to justice on TikTok. As we brave the heatwave of New York’s “second summer” before the crisp heel-turn of fall, we’re finding ourselves drawn to our guilty pleasures, riveting media, and well-executed classics. Here’s what we consumed this week:

1. The Tabi Thief

“Dating in NY is scary as it is, but with the added drama of the NYC Tabi thief the internet has been extremely entertaining this week.” — Sarah Lou Kiernan (Social Editor)

2. CeraVe’s New Oil Cleanser

“CeraVe is one of those brands so consistently well-researched and high-quality that I try almost every new product they release. For such a cheap price point, this is my new holy grail skincare item. It removes makeup and dirt and leaves my skin extremely hydrated. 10/10, cannot be more in love with the price and the quality.” — Sarah Lou Kiernan (Social Editor)

3. Easuo Vert Sintra Eau De Parfum

“Between lanternflies, hot garbage, and an ongoing fashion week, New York is officially entering its second summer– it’s gross. I’m desperate to shield myself from the outside nasties that cling to my skin, which is why I'll be carrying this perfume with me 24/7 for an instant refresh. With notes of orris, sandalwood, and lemon, it's the perfect blend of fresh and woody, enough for me to forget the chaos surrounding NYFW.” — Katie Mok (Content Management Coordinator)

4. Stanley Tucci's Favorite Sandwich

“Listening to Stanley Tucci describing his favorite sandwich wasn't something I thought I needed, but I'm so thankful I did. On his episode on Desert Island Dishes with Margie Nomura, he talks through the most simple but delicious sandwich, which I've been making for the past two weeks now for picnics and brunches. From fresh basil pesto to good sourdough, it’s the easiest crowd-pleaser to make!” — Katie Mok (Content Management Coordinator)

5. Brunello Cucinelli Parfums

“Brunello Cucinelli launched its first perfume collection for men and women and this timeless, refined, elegant scent has me yearning for fall. The aroma has captured a breeze moving through Cypress trees in the countryside of Umbria. The Parfum Pour Femme has citrus spicy notes with warm amber and wood which evokes the desire to take a stroll on a crisp sunny morning wrapped in cashmere. ” — Patricia Foster (Executive Beauty Director)

6. Innersense Organic Haircare

“I recently discovered this game-changing organic haircare line and my hair has never looked healthier. I especially love the Harmonic Hair Renew Set which is a three-step renewal set to restore the scalp. (You can take a quiz to find out which products are best for your hair type.) My hair feels clean and looks great.” — Patricia Foster (Executive Beauty Director)

7. Anything with Studs

“I (along with the rest of the fashion industry) is having a studs moment—silver studs in particular. It could be anything—clothing, accessories, handbags. Last year, I splurged on a used Prada bag from Fashionphile that is covered in silver grommets. And then I just bought the most insane brown suede studded jacket on The RealReal and am seriously tempting myself with this Khaite studded belt. I must be stopped!” — Camille Freestone (Senior Style Editor)

8. Malin + Goetz Strawberry Collection

“Usually ‘strawberry’ evokes the cloying sweetness of Y2K adolescent mall perfumes–thankfully, this fragrance is all grown-up. With bright top notes of mara strawberry, bergamot, and pink pepper, paired with floral middle tones, the first whiff of perfume is soft and flowery. As it wears on the skin, base notes of cedarwood, oakmoss, captive musks, and orris root mute the sweetness into an earthy, fresh, summery garden smell. The scent is mature and unpretentious with a cheeky hint of sweetness.” — Andie Eisen (Culture Editor)

9. How To With John Wilson Season 3

“I’ve been watching this show since episode one, and this final season was a poetic swan song to an incredible series. If you haven’t seen the show, it is less of a ‘how to’ guide but more of a meandering investigation of mundane subjects like: how to clean your ears, how to cover your furniture, how to find a public restroom, etc. With producer Nathan Fielder (Nathan For You, The Rehearsal), you are primed to expect the same type of socially awkward, prying conversations with unsuspecting (and over-sharing) strangers, and while ‘How To’ delivers on that front, this series is far more compassionate towards its subjects. This season is John Wilson’s most vulnerable, ambitious, and unequivocal success in my eyes. Have you ever been brought to tears over a conversation about vacuum cleaners? You will soon.” — Andie Eisen (Culture Editor)

10. Red Comme Si Socks

“I've been styling my favorite cherry red Comme Si socks with my Eledera black fisherman sandals as I run around the city for fashion week. In my head, this is a slightly more ‘fall’ approach to footwear despite the blazing temperatures.” — Camille Freestone (Senior Style Director)
