Even if you don't immediately recognize the name Olympia Gayot, she's likely taken up significant real estate in your Instagram saved folder. The head of women’s design for J.Crew has injected the brand—known for its foolproof, economical wardrobe staples—with a youthful take on classic silhouettes, but it’s her great sense of personal style that has us hooked. Her knack for putting together outfits equates to her superior design sensibility. Gayot makes sweater sets look cool. She elevates suiting to a new sartorial level. The style savant even has us lusting after maritime stripes, whether that’s in the form of a Tekla towel or a Buchanan Studio chair. So, naturally, we were thrilled when she agreed to share a few of her favorite things she’s loving this month, from the furniture she keeps in her office to her most important closet staples. Organic Terry Towel
Tekla is a Danish brand and made using 100 percent organic and Oeko-Tex certified cotton, which feels so soft to touch. I love their sensibility, towel colors, and stripe combinations.
Collection Trench Coat in Laminated Linen
This coat design is a showstopper and my personal favorite that I wore all last spring. I have such a love for innovative designs and this one is incredible. It looks like patent leather, but is made from a laminated linen. The color is also really lovely because it’s not quite navy—a little brighter, and so rich. This is the type of piece that goes with everything, but also packs a punch.
Studio Chair Indigo
I first spotted this chair in British Vogue and absolutely fell in love with it. The bold stripe on the simple oversized pillow chair is such a chic combination. The chair has such a “modern heritage” feeling. It was a perfect fit for my J.Crew office.
Sun Melt Duo Bronzer and Brush in Medium Bronze
I love wearing bronzer all year round; it’s one of the few items that are essential to my everyday beauty routine. I prefer a natural look and this product gives the perfect sheer dewy glow. The brush applicator that comes with the bronzer is also amazing and allows for a really nice blended effect.
Eros Torso Vase
I just recently visited Copenhagen and was so inspired by my surroundings while I was there, especially all of the beautiful ceramics and glassware. This Simon Knuds vase is made from recycled plastic water gallons and was displayed at V1 Gallery in Denmark, which is represented by the artists that created this vase.
Berkeley Bucket Bag in Leather and Suede
This bag just rolled out in one of our new fall drops. It’s a fantastic, timeless bag that is amazing for fall with its super minimal shape. This bucket bag is roomy enough to fit your laptop, but chic enough to take anywhere. I love the combo of both blue and black the bag offers.
Limited-edition Paula Mendoza Jewelry x J.Crew Cuff Bracelet
Paula [Mendoza] is not only a jeweler, but also a sculptor. I’m going to be wearing the pieces from our collaboration nonstop. I love stacking my jewelry and am extremely excited to pair these pieces with items from my personal collection.
Yakushima Incense
The smell of Yakushima Astier De Villatte incense is absolutely incredible. I’ve been using this for years. I occasionally will burn it upstate and in the city in the evenings to relax after a long day.
Patch Pocket Blazer in Corduroy
This corduroy suit has a great new shrunken proportion and patch pockets. Corduroy is such a great fabric for fall and a personal favorite of mine. The texture is really beautiful and looks great layered in a timeless kind of way.
'An Atlas of Rare & Familiar Colour'
I bought this book a few years ago at a local bookshop that carries great art books. I’m really into color history and theory. I find the origins of colors fascinating and so unexpected, and use what I learn [from the book] when designing.
