It's not very often that Margot Robbie switches up her hair. So, when she does goes from Barbie-esque, long, golden locks to a fringey, French-inspired bob and bangs, we notice. The Wuthering Heights actress made waves when she arrived at the Chanel show in Paris on March 9th with an effortless short haircut, and an outfit that was equally as laidback: a white sheer tank top and blue trompe l'oeil "jeans," both straight off Matthieu Blazy's couture runway.

So, who do we have to thank for our new favorite bob? The haircut was done by Cervando Maldonado, hairstylist to the likes Miley Cyrus, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Kristen Stewart, and the styling was by Bryce Scarlett, known for working extensively with Robbie throughout her Wuthering Heights press tour, and most recently on her iconic hip-skimming Brontë waves. Now, the two hair icons have collaborated on a low-maintenance bob that appears lived-in, but in the chicest way possible.

The Wuthering Heights press tour saw Robbie embracing method dressing to the max, including intricate braided hairstyles, textured waves that evoked dark romance, and a lot of long hair—so, seeing her emerge at the Chanel show with a drastic cut came as a bit of a shock. We, team Coveteur, have always been Team Bob—from Gracie Abrams to Anna Wintour to the battle of bobs, the bob lore goes far back. We believe in the power of the bob to convey a powerful statement, whether it's sharp and chin-grazing or effortlessly tousled. Robbie's version evokes a laidback, cool-girl energy, like she just rolled out of bed with perfect undone waves waves and piece-y bangs. This particular bob feels different than the c*nty bob versus FAB discourse; it's neither sharp and flippy, nor sleek and curled à la Anna Wintour. This is, most definitively, a French girl bob reminiscent of the singer Angèle, styled into effortless waves that appear air-dried and complete piece-y bangs akin to Jane Birkin. It's fresh, chic and gamine—and what could be more French than that?
