Hailey Bieber is no stranger to short and bold hairstyles—we know and love her for every bob iteration that her and hairstylist Justine Marjan have cooked up. Now, the duo has done it again. Today, we spotted Bieber with a refreshed flippy lob and new cool-toned hazelnut brown color and came to this conclusion: it is, very much indeed, the summer of the lob. Bieber, with her long, soft layers, isn't the only one to embrace the style that we consider the bob's cool big sister as the weather heats up. Out and about after establishing herself as a breakout star in Prime's Off Campus, Ella Bright recently stepped out with a long-layered collarbone lob, courtesy of hairstylist Jacob Rozenberg.
And we're still not done with the A-list lob cosigners. In an Instagram reel promoting summer essentials from her skincare brand The Outset, Scarlett Johansson debuted a blonde lob that fell just short of her collarbones. It felt effortless, casual, and like the ultimate cool-girl hairstyle.
We can attribute the popularity of the long bob to a few things. For starters, it's incredibly versatile and suits essentially all face shapes. It's not restrictive and provides enough length to style in an updo, it's easy to style because, in my opinion, the more texture and the more lived (and slept)-in that it looks, the better, and it feels current and fresh. It is, ultimately, the perfect style for anyone looking to make a change, but feeling hesitant to go too short.
