As the leaves fall and the weather stays a little unpredictable, we've been leaning into leather. From our beloved funnel-neck leather bombers to our tried-and-true belted leather trench coats, we can count on the material to keep us warm on chilly days. We love our leather jackets so much that we want leather everything, skirts included.
Throughout Fashion Month, we couldn't go long without seeing a handful of fashion girls putting their styling twist on a long leather skirt—it was then, and when looking back at Fall/Winter 2026 runways, that we realized that the long leather skirt is the kind of staple that can be styled for anything. A high-waisted, free-flowing number with a belt and a tucked-in V-neck knit with a button-down underneath to embrace the '70s intellectual aesthetic, a more structured but not overly tight offering with flats and a blouse for a day at the office, with an ultra-luxe and oversized faux fur coat and boots for a winter dinner that you need to stay bundled up for, and so much more.
Long story short: the runways, the celebrities, and team Coveteur all agree the leather skirt is the elevated essential of fall and winter.

Altuzarra FW26 // Spotlight Launchmetrics At Calvin Klein's Fall/Winter 2026 show, creative director Veronica Leoni traded in sleek minimalism for moments of maximal texture. In this look, an oversized patchwork fur coat was paired with boots and a maroon leather knee-length skirt for a look that felt dynamic and chic. Over at Altuzarra, many intriguing aesthetics collided: subversive prep, dark academia, equestrian, and more. This look paired a high-waisted brown leather maxi skirt with an argyle sweater for an intriguing texture and pattern combination.
