Rowing Blazers founder Jack Carlson takes us inside his personal space.
Stepping inside Rowing Blazers founder Jack Carlson's Manhattan loft feels a bit like falling through the looking glass. Every inch of space is meticulously and thoughtfully covered with vintage treasures, ranging from cartoon figurines to priceless Keith Haring first edition art books. Jack is a master of mixing together the unexpected and making something magical. His vintage Rolex watch for example, is donned with a Domino's pizza logo—a '90s find that was given as gifts to employees at the pizza company. “It's all about the high and low mix," Carlson explains. “That's what I really love."
This spirit of mixing and matching to blend the lines of luxury and quirk is the essence of his menswear and lifestyle brand, Rowing Blazers. Carlson draws from his time on the U.S National Rowing Team for inspiration, and many of the styles, silhouettes, and designs are direct odes to the nautical sport. As we rummage through his closet we find an array of old blazers and polos from his past, including team jerseys and vintage finds he has obsessively collected over the years.
