Here at Coveteur, we're all in favor of the butt cleavage revival—and, luckily for us, so are some of our favorite stars. We somewhat recently called the return of the bumster and red carpet moments have backed up our claim. The bumster has a controversial and complicated history, as does anything having to do with women revealing themselves or embracing sexuality in any way.
The latest bumster ambassadors embraced the trend on the red carpet of the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, starting with this year's best supporting actress winner Teyana Taylor who has been turning out bold look after bold look for the entirety of her "One Battle After Another" press tour. Taylor accepted her first Golden Globe in custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture by Daniel Roseberry: an asymmetrical bustier gown in a draped black satin with a distinct cut-out detail and elegant scarf detail. Her eye makeup was dramatic, her jewelry shimmered when the light hit just right, and her hair was perfectly coiffed but still, the most distinct element of her look was a surprise. The gown seemed simple from the front but, upon turning around, Taylor revealed a silver rhinestone bijou thong with a bow detail.

Jenna Ortega also payed homage to the bumster with her Golden Globes look. Her look from Dilara Findikoglu's Spring 2026 collection featured a dramatic turtleneck in the spirit of Wednesday Addams, embellished tassels on the sleeves, side cutouts with straps that create a thong-like detail.

The bumster and whale tail trend that originated in the 90s has returned and, tonight, we're happy to announce that it's going nowhere.
