OJ’s Bronco chase. Monica’s blue dress. And now, half a day of skiing, lost forever. Indelibly etched into our collective memory, these morally-charged tabloid moments brought the American public to our knees with questions we never thought we’d be asking. Can celebrities really get away with murder? Can a politician’s moral transgressions shake our government on the global stage? Did Gwyneth get the idea to counter sue for $1 from Taylor Swift? And if so, has she ever given Taylor intimate, personal gifts for Christmas? On the heels of three seasons, a new chapter of American Crime Story is finally in the works at FX, titled She’ll Be Coming Around the Mountain When She Comes: The Gwyneth Paltrow Story.

Ryan Murphy has assembled a cast of his go-to MVPs including Sarah Paulson as Paltrow, Edie Falco as starstruck attorney Kristin VanOrman, and Emma Roberts as Apple Martin. The role of Terry Sanderson—the alleged ski-hit-and-run victim—will be played by none other than Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes. “Initially, I wasn’t interested in the Hollywood media circus,” says Fiennes, British veteran of the stage and screen. “But when I saw this man’s story, the fact that he couldn’t even enjoy a wine tasting after the incident, that struck a chord. The pathos, the grief—this man is so much more than a retired optometrist with a concussion.”

In a recent exclusive with Deadline, Paulson explained, “When Ryan [Murphy] approached me for the role, I said yes before he could finish the question. As a fellow actress I felt a kinship with Gwen—frustrations with the spotlight, the scrutiny in the media. This woman lost half a day of skiing seven years ago, and that’s simply not a story that’s been told on screen before.” When asked about her preparation for the role she said, “It’s exhausting but rewarding. I mean, you try taking six hours of ski lessons a day on a diet of bone broth, vegan gum, and a B-12 IV drip.”

Marina Balmcheck, Paulson’s facial movement coach said, “Sarah [Paulson] is such a dedicated actor. We have been practicing raising eyebrows and pursing the lips at the same time—it’s not as easy as you think.” (I bet you’re trying to do it right now while you’re reading this. Nice try.) Balmcheck explains, “Paltrow’s expressions drive a lot of the storytelling. Maybe it’s the botox, but she’s very hard to read. Is it smugness? Contrition? A yoni egg slightly out of place? We look at her and we think, ‘Maybe she is the kind of person that would let out a blood curdling scream before plowing down a fellow skier.’”

Ryan Murphy’s longtime creative collaborator and husband to Gwyneth Paltrow, Brad Falchuk, has declined to comment on the project. An insider source says, “It’s not so much on moral grounds, he’s just upset that Murphy didn’t cast Keanu Reeves to play him like he asked.” FX announced the series is set to air on July 5th, 2023, when I’m sure we’ll all still totally care about this case. While Paltrow was deemed #Gwynnocent by the jury, we still have so many questions like, does Gwyneth really “wish him well”? Who had better courtroom fits, Paltrow or Delvey? And, is this fake article even relevant two days after the trial’s conclusion? In the meantime, Happy April Fools Day—wear your helmet on the slopes and stay Goop’d, everyone!
