In The Close-Up, Coveteur gets up close and personal with the people shaping the creative industries as we know it, from artists to photographers.

Enya Umanzor has grown up on the internet. From reaching Vine virality in 2013 to garnering a YouTube channel with over a million subscribers, and the launch of her weekly podcast Emergency Intercom in 2021, Umanzor has given her audience a piece of herself wherever they are. Lately, the internet multi-hyphenate has delved into the world of fashion, appearing behind the turntables at the Collina Strada Spring/Summer show in 2023, in the front row at the Dior Fall/Winter 2026 runway, and as the face of the Madhappy x Converse collaboration campaign in late 2025. Today, she's solidifying her place in the fashion set with the title of designer for her collaboration with Reformation. The two came together to create a satin wedge, designed "for anybody, even those who maybe aren't heel-wearers," she tells Coveteur.

"I always adored heels, but had a really hard time committing to them until I got my first pair of really cute wedges," Umanzor says. "Wearing heels has become so empowering for me, as silly as that may sound to the passerby. I specifically wanted people who feel intimidated by heels to be able to have a really fun and playful, effeminate shoe that they can throw on without feeling overwhelmed." And the $298 wedge answers that prayer in stride—with a stable heel and three color variations to choose from, it's destined to become your most worn. As we wait for ours to arrive in the mail, we caught up with Umanzor on where she finds inspiration, what she's manifesting, and the songs she can't get enough of.

What's your star sign and do you relate?

My star sign is an Aquarius, and I sadly really, really do relate.

I only say sadly because I feel like it’s just too funny, this idea of Aquarius people being these loudmouth creatives who think they have the answer to everything. Because I believe I have the answer to everything and I can change the world with something as stupid as a shoe—not to say shoes are stupid, but in the grand scheme of things.

I can go on a whole tangent, but yes, I relate to being an Aquarius.

How would you describe your personal style in three words?

Playful. Confused. Satisfied.

Who are your style inspirations?

Oh my gosh, my fashion icons are everyone who I’m close friends with, because I am just so gifted to be around people who are very creative, and it shows in what they wear every day, for the most part.

Also, Meryl Streep’s character in She-Devil

I also find style inspo in a very specific kind of woman in her 60s who has always been a playful character, and maybe isn’t wearing the craziest things you’ve ever seen, but it shows in pops of color through her glasses frames. Or she has a bag that has, like, way too many loud charms on it, and it’s tattered and leathery and so abused, but then everything she’s wearing is so clean, crisp. I’m describing somebody who’s a fictional character, but I think I’m really inspired, honestly, mostly by older women.

What's the last screenshot you took on your phone?

It honestly goes back to my last answer. It is a screenshot of Lee Radziwill.

I do not know much about her, but I was told via my very stylish, amazing friends Saba Tyrell and Rain that she was a style phenomenon.

I don’t know her ethically, all I know is: wow, look at this woman. Just even off this base photo. This was a woman who, no matter what the hell was happening in her life, wanted to see herself in a reflection and be gagged.

What makes you feel confident?

Music. When I have an album or music that I really love listening to, it, for some reason, makes me feel so goddamn good.

Or if I watch a movie and I see someone very fabulous and that reminds me that I am too fabulous, that can inspire me. But really it’s music, especially when I’m getting dressed and getting ready. There’s such a huge difference between my confidence level getting ready and listening to an album I love or a song I love on repeat versus when I’m listening to silence.

What songs are stuck in your head right now?

Anything off of Ravyn Lenae, Steve Lacy, and Kelela’s albums. All three of their albums have been the only things I’ve been in my recent rotation, in terms of full albums that are out.

Overdrive by Reign Judge. It’s a song of hers that is coming out this week, and I’ve been listening to it a bunch. It’s just been stuck in my head. It’s one of those earworms that’s so satisfying because she has a really great voice and I don’t. So I love singing it.

Do you believe in manifestation? If so, what are you manifesting right now?

I do believe in manifestation. I really do. I think you reap what you sow. You are what you eat. You are what you say. You are who you see.

I’m manifesting the confidence I had as a teenager to make, create, and not waste a single goddamn second of my life. Funny enough, actually, this whole Reformation collab, unironically, re-engaged a part of my heart for creating things. Making that carousel, although nobody asked me to, making that carousel just for the visual concept alone and knowing I could. And I don’t know, it gave me so much room to play.

Doing the design for the embroidery on the shoe and, like, drawing shoes, it just really reignited a creative flame, especially a creative flame that I want to share, and it’s re-engaged that. So I’m manifesting more art, more life, more love, more laughter.
