Season after season, we keep our eyes peeled for bag trends. So far, Spring/Summer 2027 runways have made strong cases for maximal pockets, dramatic trains, metal handles, and more. But of late, the drawstring bag has been making a case for a new staple.
Back in the Spring/Summer 2026 fashion month season, drawstring pouches accessorized looks on the runways of Prada, Valentino, Dreaming Eli, and more. They came in both satin and leather iterations; some were neutrals and some offered pops of color, and the drawstring pouch was poised to take the clutch's place as the go-to evening bag.
Come Fall/Winter 2026, it became clear that the drawstring's impact on bag trends wasn't ending with the pouch. It was then that we learned that bags of all shapes and sizes could benefit from a little cinch every now and again.

Zimmermann FW26 // Spotlight LaunchmetricsOn Fendi's Fall/Winter 2026 runway, a new version of the house's iconic baguette bag was carried under the arm Jane Birkin style, with an unmissable detail: drawstrings on each end. Unlike the traditional baguette that we all know and love, this iteration could be scrunched and reshaped.
On Zimmermann's Fall/Winter 2026 runway, pouches were presented: soft supple leather bags of various sizes with drawstring details and carried as clutches.

Louis Vuitton Menswear SS27 // Spotlight Launchmetrics When it came to the Spring/Summer 2027 season, it wasn't surprising that the trend carried over. What was surprising, though, was that drawstring bags were presented in neutrals and earth tones that feel entirely fall-appropriate. At Luar's Spring/Summer 2027 show in collaboration with MCM, a tan suede bag with leather trim, handles, and drawstrings caught our eye. On Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2027 men's runway, an oversized monogrammed drawstring pouch was presented.

Photo: BackgridThis summer and fall, celebrities endorsed the drawstring bag trend, too—and often with fringe tassel details. In the Hamptons in August, Dakota Fanning carried a velvet, floral-embroidered drawstring pouch complete with fringe trim. Early this month, Florence Pugh was spotted carrying a black satin pouch bag with tasselled drawstrings.
We attribute this trend to our collective desire for slouchy, adjustable shapes. While structured bags will always have their time and place, we're leaning into more casual and relaxed silhouettes.
