10 Things We Consumed This Week: From Priscilla to Sports-Themed Sex Shops

Welcome to Coveteur’s Consumer Diaries! As our co-dependent relationship with the algorithm deepens with time, the bottomless scroll has turned us all into 24/7 consumers. As we consume varying degrees of news, targeted ads, trailers, shopping, and user-generated content, all accordioned together in an endless feed—our consumer habits have reached a fever pitch. In each Consumer Diary, we are taking the cultural pulse of the week and asking Coveteur staff members about what they consumed this past week.

Halloween came and went, and with it, a series of elaborate celebrity couple’s costumes. While I enjoyed Heidi Klum’s Cirque-du-Soleil peacock, I feel her husband’s egg costume did not receive the internet buzz it deserved. I was particularly fond of Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler’s Edie Sedgewick and Warhol costume, as well as Zoe Kravitz and new finacé Channing Tatum’s dressing up as Rosemary and her baby. I loved Halle Bailey and DDG’s ‘Poetic Justice’ reimagining as Tupac and Janet Jackson (not sure why they also opted for a Whitney & Bobby costume since that relationship was tumultuous, to say the least).

With Halloween safely in the rear-view mirror, we can enjoy discounted bags of fun-size candy from the drugstore and start strategizing with our therapists on “how not to talk about politics with your family at Thanksgiving dinner.” It’s time to trash those lovingly carved jack-o-lanterns and dig out your Home Goods cornucopia. As agencies and brands gear up for the hellish marathon of “holiday season,” the Coveteur team is reaching for comforting seasonal staples, escapist media, and indulgent creature comforts.

1. Ghia Non-Alcoholic Apéritif

“After a relatively 'boo-zy' Halloweekend, I am finding myself moving toward a hangover-free cocktail for the foreseeable future. Ghia has a consistently delicious array of bevs, but for me, their signature apéritif leads the pack.” — Paige Kowal (Associate Account Manager)

2. Priscilla by Sofia Coppola

“I've been itching for a new Sofia Coppola fix, and I finally got it last Sunday at the Angelika. Priscilla is quintessentially Sofia; it's more about the vibes than the plot—although the focus on Elvis essentially grooming this 16-year-old is not subtle—but regardless, the vibes are *good.* Think: '60s-schoolgirl-meets-the-high-life. I highly recommend seeing it. Not to mention, the soundtrack is excellent—it’s been on repeat ever since.” — Camille Freestone (Senior Style Editor)

3. Unleashia Glitterpedia Eye Palette

“I just found my forever eyeshadow palette. The fact that this blend of chunky glitters and shimmers doesn't fall down my cheeks is the cherry on top. I already had the brown palette for everyday use, but now I have the No.1 All of Glitter palette, which is perfect for holiday parties, concerts, and trips I have lined up for the coming months.” — Katie Mok (Content Management Coordinator)

4. Sleeper Party Wear

“I wore this feather-sleeved ‘girl with the pearl’ blazer to the office on Halloween and felt like a princess witch. It is the hottest way I've riffed off of my typical ‘black blazer’ uniform, so I'll be wearing it to at least three holiday parties this year.” — Leya Kaufman (Head of Brand—Publisher & VP of Sales)

5. The Leya Necklace

“It's almost Sagittarius season, and I'm so here for it. Since I've always struggled with how to LOVE my topaz birthstone, I collaborated with the AAPI-owned leader in dainty, everyday fine jewelry, Yi Collection, to design ‘The Leya Necklace.’ It's a piece that celebrates individuality and ‘love for all’ with a 5-carat white topaz pendant and a ruby heart-adorned endlessly adjustable clasp. I'd love it even if it weren't named after me.” — Leya Kaufman (Head of Brand—Publisher & VP of Sales)

6. Baywatch (the original series)

“I started crushing on Pam Anderson again after she rocked her ageless, authentic, makeup-free self at the last Paris Fashion Week, so I'm rewatching Baywatch from the beginning. It's worth every single second of the late '80s montages and predictable plot lines. The show pairs well with a glass of sauvignon blanc and frigid NYC winter weather. Highly recommend.” — Leya Kaufman (Head of Brand—Publisher & VP of Sales)

7. Stussy Crewneck

“I've been upping the shades of blues in my closet lately, and this was a find I fully welcomed. Sweater weather is in full blast, and this crewneck has been doing its job keeping me warm and cozy.” — Katie Mok (Content Management Coordinator)

8. Contact Sports

“I walked into what I initially thought was a streetwear boutique and found myself in a well-curated sex shop. To say I was surprised (albeit pleasantly) would be an understatement. Filled with vintage Playboy and Sports Illustrated Magazines, with playful sports references–most notably the “oldest sport”—the store has a sense of humor and style. There were no neon signs and no mannequins wearing tacky lingerie in sight.” — Lauren Malanga (Campaign Manager)

9. Marsell Shoes

“I was gifted these buckle-fastened oxford Marsèlls when I was in a bit of a ‘loafer craze.’ They look like something between a loafer and a creeper, and at first I was afraid the bubble toe would make me look like SpongeBob. These have quickly become my favorite go-to shoe–they’re incredibly comfortable, easy to dress up and down, and expertly crafted in Italy which makes them a durable staple in your closet. Thankfully I don’t look like SpongeBob unless I wear them with shorts and tall socks, and even then, the outfit is chic as hell.” — Andie Eisen (Culture Editor)

10. Dickies Insulated Eisenhower Jacket

“I had a beloved Dickies jacket that I inherited during one of my friend’s yearly closet cleanouts. It was unfortunately lost by a coat check during my last trip to New York, and I’ve been sorely missing it during California’s transitional weather. I bought this Insulated Eisenhower jacket in black as a replacement, and I’m happy to say it’s the perfect upgrade. It’s a durable jacket with a thin lining of quilted insulation that makes it perfect for Los Angeles ‘winter.’ Highly recommend.” — Andie Eisen (Culture Editor)
