10 Things We Consumed This Week: From Stroopwafels to Candles That Smell Better Than Your Boyfriend

Welcome to Coveteur’s Consumer Diaries! As our co-dependent relationship with the algorithm deepens with time, the bottomless scroll has turned us all into 24/7 consumers. As we consume varying degrees of news, targeted ads, trailers, shopping, and user-generated content, all accordioned together in an endless feed—our consumer habits have reached a fever pitch. Each week, we are asking Coveteur staff members about what they consumed this past week and connecting the dots on our consumer behavior with a trendspotting Venn diagram.

Paris Fashion Week came and went, and with it, an influx of Parisian bed bugs—sacre bleu! With Britney’s knife dancing and Halloween just around the corner, Hot Girl Summer has officially transitioned into Hotumn. As the October weather toggles between nearly 90-degree days and crisp, chilly afternoons, we’re leaning into hydrating beauty routines, binge-able reality shows, and moody playlists. Find out what the Coveteur team consumed this week below:

1 .Mitski's New Album

“It's rainy, it's cold out, fall in NY is upon us, and so is Mitski's latest sad girl album. It's great foggy, rainy weather listening and feels like the perfect antidote for dusting off sweaters and getting cozy.” —Sarah Lou Kiernan (Social Editor)

2. CEZZANE

“We have had enough rain in New York to make me sprint to the Scott J. Aveda salon for a ‘makeover for my hair!’ I was lucky enough to receive a Cezzane treatment, and I feel transformed. Unlike other keratin treatments, there’s no downtime or harsh chemicals—as soon as your appointment is over, you can shampoo, style, restyle, work out, and even get your hair colored. Plus, I was able to wash it the next day. Cheers to no more bad hair days and a little more sunshine this fall!”—Patricia Foster (Executive Beauty Director)

3. Couch Pillows from HAY
“This might be a bit of a cheat because these were a gift, but I’m loving my Outline Cushion couch pillows from HAY. I got the four colorways shown in the photo, and they are the perfect upgrade from IKEA staples to more elevated home goods. The design is minimal, but the colors add a lot of punch to the decor. The online reviews kept critiquing the quality, but even with a fairly aggressive house cat, the seams are holding up just fine.” —Andie Eisen (Culture Editor)

4. Wonderen Stroopwafels in Grand Central Terminal

“I went on a midday European vacation in the dining concourse in Grand Central Terminal yesterday. Wonderen Stroopwafels just launched a new flagship store there. These decadent Dutch masterpieces just dethroned cupcakes and meringues—they’re honestly the hottest luxe treats. Highly recommend trying one on your next midtown coffee break.”—Leya Kaufman (Head of Brand—Publisher & VP of Sales)

5. Alastin C-RADICAL Defense Antioxidant Serum

“My skin loves vitamin C serum, but almost every formula ends up going to war with my makeup. Enter: Alastin's new C-RADICAL Defense Antioxidant Serum. This is the first AM vitamin C product that absorbs almost immediately. So, I can layer a tinted base, bronzer, and blush on top.”—Leya Kaufman (Head of Brand—Publisher & VP of Sales)

6. Malin & Goetz Vetiver Candle

“Smells better than my boyfriend.”—Greg Brossia (Chief Digital Officer)

7. Anine Bing Gain Jeans

“These are the jeans that I’ve been searching for for years. I always gravitate towards a raw hem, but every pair in my current collection is just too long to show off my shoes in the way that I want. I finally found myself in Anine Bing's chic Soho space over the weekend to try on the Gavin Jeans for myself, and I can already tell that I will be wearing them on repeat through the fall and winter. Definitely worth the splurge.”—Caroline Dunn (Manager of Sales & Brand Partnerships)

8. Demon Copperhead

“I just finished this book after devouring all 500-some pages over the weekend. After hearing recommendations from multiple sources, I am now doing the same with anyone who will listen. The novel is a cocktail of fascinating, educating, gut-wrenching, and hopeful all in one—can't recommend enough.”—Camille Freestone (Senior Style Editor)

9. Dries Van Noten SS24 Runway Collection

“I am a Dries girl through and through. Amidst all the noise of fashion month, his beautiful designs always feel like a palette cleanser to the trend and marketing-driven content. This season, I swooned for the striped ribbon trim, the khaki layered against brighter shades, and (as always) the superior print work. Now, I just have to wait a few months for the clothes to hit stores (or, more accurately, a few years for them to hit the secondary market). P.S. On the note of the designer, I highly recommend giving his documentary, Dries, a watch—it’s one of my absolute favorites.”—Camille Freestone (Senior Style Editor)

10. Erno Laszlo's Vitality Treatment Mask

“I was fortunate enough to try numerous skincare lines thanks to my current job. When I got to experience the new Erno Laszlo Vitality Treatment Mask, I was transformed. The treatment utilizes a mix to activate the mask, and they make the rest of the steps easy to follow. My skin immediately felt brighter, smoother, and plumper. Having tried it firsthand, I do believe my hydration is at its peak. With their newly rebranded line, Erno Laszlo has a skincare solution for everyone.”—Patricia Foster (Senior Beauty Director)
