I like all of my jewelry in stacks and packs—you'll rarely catch me out wearing only one ring, one bracelet, or one set of earrings. This summer, I'm working on my necklace stack by sourcing distinct pieces and, day after day, playing around with different combinations until something clicks. On some days, it will be the most unexpected combinations: a pearl necklace with a chunky chain necklace, for example, or a statement necklace that you always thought was better on its own paired with two other chains.

For inspiration, we can all turn to our favorite celebrities. Rihanna, arguably the queen of necklace stacking, encourages combining statement pieces. She pairs multiple chunky gold necklaces with longer pendants for a stack that feels bold, edgy, and completely reflective of her personal style. Over the years, Bella Hadid has become a bit of a necklace stacking queen herself. On different occasions, she has paired beads with chains and gemstone pendants, statement pearls with statement chains, and, more recently, has been experimenting with extra-long lengths.

Ahead, the 10 best necklaces for stacking.

Tips For Stacking Necklaces:

The first thing to keep in mind when shopping for necklaces to stack is looking for a combination of different lengths to ensure each is shown off. Then, the stacking process becomes a bit more fun and creative. Consider chains of varying textures, styles, and weights for the sake of dimension. Try incorporating different materials like pearls, for example, to add textural intrigue, or pendants of varying shapes and sizes for a bit of fun. At the end of the day, there are no rules to necklace stacks but I would argue, that the process calls for experimentation.

Shop Editor-Approved Necklaces For Stacking:

Pattaraphan Locket Necklace, Blue Sapphire

While this locket necklace featuring a small blue sapphire stone works well on it's own, it's also begging to be paired with a simple chain necklace or two. At 21 inches, I would recommend stacking this with two shorter chain necklaces—one 18 inches and the other 16 inches.

Quince 10K Gold Delicate Cable Chain Necklace

A delicate chain necklace is important for every necklace stacker's rotation, and this Quince necklace is the perfect place to start.

Common Era Boudica Pendant

There's something about stacking medallion necklaces of varying lengths, shapes, and sizes that just does it for me.

Awe Inspired Oshun Goddess Necklace

Imagine this medallion necklace paired with the necklace above? Perfection. I would go with this one in a shorter length and the above necklace in a longer length for the perfect stack.

Frank Darling Everyday Emerald Cut Diamond Necklace

A diamond necklace makes enough of a statement on its own, but can also benefit from supporting characters from time to time. For a larger statement, I would pair this with another diamond necklace in a different shape and with a shorter chain.

Pandora Moments Snake Chain Necklace

There are so many different types of chain necklaces: cable chains, rope chains, paperclip chains, figaro chains, and yes, snake chains. For dimension, consider combining multiple types for your stack.

Gucci Interlocking G Sterling Silver Necklace

I love the idea of this Gucci necklace stacked with other pendants. The end result is lowkey and effortless.

Babygold Dainty Pearl Necklace

The most fun necklace stacks are texturally intriguing and perfectly combine different materials. Consider pairing dainty pearls with pendants and chains and playing around until you find the perfect balance.

In honor of Rihanna, consider starting your necklace stack with the chunkiest chain necklace you can find!

Juju Vera Petra Gold-Plated Necklace

I'm taking a page out of Bella Hadid's book and shopping for extra-long necklaces, as well as statement pendants. I love the idea of a minimal summer outfit accessorized with this plus other gold necklaces of varying lengths.
