The Austin Farmers Market Is a Master Class in Sartorial Creativity
Amid triple-digit temperatures, shoppers were spotted wearing swimwear as clothing, sundresses, and fanny packs.

Welcome to Coveteur's latest series, Farmers Market Run. As endless fans of personal style, Coveteur editors are forever curious about what people are wearing and how they're wearing it. In pursuit of style inspiration this summer, we’re heading across the country to various farmers markets—one of our favorite spots for people-watching!—to uncover off-duty style in its truest form: supporting local purveyors and buying groceries.
While many spots across the globe have been experiencing heat waves, Texas spends months of the year experiencing triple-digit temperatures. Needless to say, its residents know a thing or two about dressing for the heat. On a record-breaking hot day (109 degrees Fahrenheit) at the Texas Farmers' Market at Mueller in Austin, photographer Cristina Fisher captured this fashion mastery at work. Think: swimwear in lieu of tops, practical headwear, floaty sundresses, and lots of athletic fabrics. Weaving through tables of Round Rock Honey and Pure Luck goat cheese, shoppers donned looks with a flair unique to Austin’s culture—eclectic with a rather practical undertone.
