For me and my jewelry rotation, anklets are forever—and it seems like celebrities and designers agree. With ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt origins, and significant roles in the flapper aesthetic of the '20s, the bohemian aesthetic of the '60s and '70s, and the Y2K aesthetic of the early aughts, one thing is for certain: the anklet trend defies generation and location.

Last year, we noted the rise of toe rings and have kept a close eye on what seems to be a general foot fetish dominating the fashion industry. We're talking about clear or mesh shoes and toes being on full display at Chanel's Cruise 2026 show. We're very much in support of feet, toe, and leg jewelry in all forms and, this summer, we're all about showing the ankles some love.

With temperatures on the east coast reaching above ninety degrees and humidity making it feel even hotter than that, our ankles are out and basking in the sun. So, why not add on a little ankle candy? It's chic, adds a minimal or maximal touch to any look depending on the piece you pick, and, in my opinion, makes an outfit extra put together. Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer 2026 runway show served as case and point. Ahead, find styling inspiration for the anklet trend plus the ones our editors have in their shopping carts.

On McQueen's Spring/Summer 2026 runway, anklets adorned with charms were paired with mules and sandals alike. They didn't distract from the corseted tops or cargo-style skirts, but rather added an IYKYK detail. It's a detail that you might have to be a fashion fanatic to notice but, when you do, you can't take your eye off of it.

Celebrities have endorsed the jewelry trend as well. From Hailey Bieber notably wearing a nameplate anklet featuring her son Jack's name to Rihanna recently layering a chunky anklet over the straps of her orange heeled sandals while out and about in New York City, the trend is going strong. And now, with summer in full swing, we'll be on the lookout for ankle candy.
