Everything makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff used for the big night.

Taraji P. Henson was one of only a few actresses who hit the red carpet of the 2018 Oscars last night with a true makeup *look*: glowing skin, a bold lip, and pretty eyeshadow. (After her memorable interaction with Ryan Seacrest, you could say she threw shade in more ways than one—sorry, we can’t help ourselves.) We were particularly keen to see her eye makeup look, as we had gotten a heads-up that the actress would be wearing Glossier’s new launch, Lidstar, a shimmery liquid eyeshadow which had been teased on Beyoncé at the Grammys and goes on sale today in a range of six shades. When we got on the phone with Henson’s longtime friend and makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff, she gave us some of the best product suggestions, including cult favorites and new indie brands we hadn’t heard of.  Below, find Sheriff’s best products for flawless Oscar makeup.

“For the eye, it was the new Glossier Lidstar in Fawn (a taupe with violet in it), and that was it on the lid. It’s a beautiful plummy lilac cream.”

“First I used Skyn Iceland eye patches for ten minutes. These eye pads help to hydrate and firm tired eyes.”

“The Lidstar gave a hazy wash of color with a lot of gleam and pop. It powderizes [dries down to a powder], but doesn’t look ashy or dry. It was rockin’—really liked it a lot.”

“For the skin, you want to create a glow. I used Perfect Blend by Ashunta Sheriff, which is dual-ended foundation and concealer, and Danessa Myricks Enlight Highlighter Shimmer Highlighter in the shade called Confidence. I contoured with Cozette Infinite Contour Palette, and the cheek is Glossier Cloud Paint in Haze.”

“I used the Blowout Pixie lashes by KISS and their black waterproof liner.”

“For the lip I used one brand for the color; it’s called The Lip Bar, and I used the liquid matte cream with two colors. Drama Queen and Savage. I like the wearability of it, it lasts a long time, it doesn’t move, it’s vegan. I also used MAC Lip Liner in Cork.”
