“I didn’t know what I wanted to do. When I was in college, I was a double major in advertising and psychology, but I started off in nursing because that’s what my parents wanted me to do. When I was really young, I wanted to be a model and I was always into creative stuff, so I kind of fell into it. I got an internship at this market research company when I was a junior going into senior year of college, and the internship was so boring that all I did was apply to creative internships—PR, fashion, stuff like that. I got a phone call from Allure to intern for them in August—it was for the fall semester, and I went to Temple University (which is in Philly). So, basically, I didn’t tell my parents and I commuted from Philly to New York three days a week to intern at Allure. Then I got a job on the weekends working at Nordstrom.”
